Mums are amazing aren’t they? They’re caretakers, role models, chefs, skilled school-run parkers, homework geniuses, tellers of stories, telling-off experts – you name it they’re doing it, all alongside being girl bosses in the workplace! This Mother’s Day, if you’ve got a special person in your life who does a few or all of the aforementioned (cos, let’s face it, she can!), why not treat them to something amazing? Whether it’s your mum, caregiver, aunt, grandparent or significant other, there’s bound to be something in our Mother’s Day gift selection that will make them smile on this, their special day.

If you’re stumped for ideas, here are a few of our lovely presenters, who are also mums, with a few ideas of their own. Read on to find out what they love about Mother’s Day and what might be on their wish lists!

Jilly Halliday

I love Mother’s Day, although I’m a firm believer in it’s how we treat each other all year round that really counts. Unfortunately, I lost my Mum when I was in my twenties but it’s funny how, as I’ve got older, I’m finding myself saying all the same things that she used to say!

My favourite Mother’s Day gift was a little metal card my daughter gave me a few years ago which says “You are more than my Mum, you are my best friend!” I loved that, and it still sits proudly in my purse, because that’s the kind of Mum I try to be. I still moan to the kids about boring stuff like the butter being left out or the dishwasher not being emptied, but to be called their best friend is everything to me.

My gift ideas consist of all my favourites; chocolate, alcohol and some beauty! Firstly the food! How about this gorgeous selection from Hotel Chocolat? Or an amazing jar of honeycomb with salted caramel from Cocoba. This boxed selection of goodies from the Original Cake Company is lovely and, wrapping up the food, I had to include this Godminister cheese gift set because one of the cheeses is heart shaped!

Then, for a little tipple, the cocktail starter kit from Tapp’d is brilliant, or you could go for the non-alcoholic mocktail bundle. Then, for some pampering, the Molton Brown fragrance set is a fabulous idea with 11 fragrances to try. The Shea hands collection from L’Occitane is super and, for the gift of well-being, Neom’s three-piece Mood Booster collection is a perfect idea and contains the happiness candle.

Finally, if you really want to push the boat out or maybe are sharing the gifting with a sibling, the Truth in Beauty set from Elemis is a stunning gift of 12 top selling Elemis products presented in a tote bag! Yes please x

Mother’s Day, or Mothering Sunday as we once called it, can be a mixed bag of emotions. For some it’s a celebration and a gathering of generations, for others it stirs difficult memories, for many it’s both – different for us all.

I remember going into motherhood feeling totally unprepared. My biggest fear, was ‘will I love my baby as much as I should?’ I needn’t have worried. There was something that changed the moment Myles was born, and Beely came tumbling in just over 12 months later. Of course, it’s had its challenges, but it is by far the richest and most rewarding experience of my life. I will be eternally thankful for that.

We know that women who play the role of mother in our lives aren’t always the ones who gave birth to us. Family takes all kinds of shapes, and we adore showering those we hold close with affection. One thing is for sure, many of us are plate-spinning all day long, striving to find the elusive balance like a crock of gold at the end of the rainbow. So, we’ve put our heads together and come up with some ideas to celebrate the wonderful mother-figures in our lives.

I love this elegant Grecian vase from Peony, and Neom’s beautiful candles are always a hit with me. This selection from Hotel Chocolat looks delicious, or how about the sparkling necklace from Diamonique? There are lots more picks here, take a look!

Being a mum has been, and will continue to be, the biggest challenge and most beautiful part of my life. It’s wonderful, exhausting, hilarious, emotional and all-consuming. There are days when I feel like I am failing and days when I, dare I say it, am winning at raising two fierce, strong, smart, funny, beautiful little girls. Every day brings a new learning experience. There’s advice to be given, knowledge to pass on, tears to wipe away (sometimes mine) and often moments to reflect on what I could have done better.

My house will be a mess at the end of every day and sometimes the juggle of being a working mum will leave me frazzled but there will have been laughter, love, cuddles and, I hope, two happy kids. So, here’s to all the mums and mother figures out there who are doing their best to raise good people: you’ve got this! I also know it can be a tough time of year for many so I am also sending you all extra love xxx

Some of my go-tos when it comes to gifts are these Gower Cottage brownies, they are just delicious and come in a choice of flavours. If she loves gardening, she’ll love these Plants2Garden Rhododendrons or if she prefers staying cosy indoors, this Cozee Home Velvetsoft Supreme throw is gorgeous, as are these Moda in Pelle Cosie slippers. There’s so much more inspiration and more of my wish list here.

I love Mother’s Day. It’s always next to my birthday so I get a double whammy of treats and loveliness! Most Mother’s Days I get the obligatory breakfast in bed and Scott takes the kids out for a bit so I get some quiet, or he’ll book me a massage. The flip side of this is on Father’s Day; I always organise doing something with Scott and the kids for the whole day… I get ‘me time’, Scott gets ‘kid time’ LOL!

It can be a strange day for some, if you’ve lost your mum, or have been trying to become a mum. Getting pregnant with my two was not easy and Izzy was born the month of January, and was in hospital for a while as she needed surgery and was premature…we came so close to losing her after a really tricky time even making her. This meant that my first Mother’s Day, just a few months after getting her home was extra special. It was really magical. Finally being someone’s Mum.

As much as my kids drive me round the bend, being their mum is the best job in the world. And I think if you’re lucky enough to have a good relationship with your mum, then taking this day to just let them know you appreciate them is really special. Even if it’s a card or a text. But if Scotty is reading this – feel free to get me any of these ‘from the kids!’

This selection of drinks from 6 O’Clock Gin, I love these faux Phalaenopsis that come in a lovely glass vase, and perfume is always a good option too. One of my favourites is the Liz Earle Botanical Essence No 100. If your mum loves her slippers as much as I do, these Emu Nest Jolie sheepskin slippers are so cosy – my vote is for the chestnut colour!

Hopefully, you’ve found a few favourites in there too, or you can browse a full selection of gift ideas plus more of Jilly, Alex, Pipa and Katy’s picks on the QVCUK website.
