Spring is such a brilliant time and excuse to give our homes a mini-makeover. For me it’s a lot about de-cluttering and streamlining the fullness that winter can bring, especially when it comes to all those extra bits we seem to gather over Christmas time.

Looking down into the My Home Stories coffee table

I like to swap furniture about and look at how using pieces that add space and serve a function is a win-win! Shelving, coffee tables and side counters that use slimmer frames and materials such as wood, glass and iron, that allow light to flow through the design, can be a game changer.

816657 - My Home Stories shelving unit

A great example of this is with both the coffee table and shelving unit from My Home Stories. They both look minimal and sleek and are very useful for storing books, plants and ornaments. In fact, I think they work really well if, like us, you have children and need a place to store extra arts and crafts, games, books, and all those little toys that seem to be everywhere!

Finding storage solutions that look good enough to have on display is important to me, especially as we do have a lot of things we use with the children in the day but, come night, we like to pack away to regain our space and have our evening time.

Set of three BundleBerry by Amanda Holden Velvet Touch storage trunks in Navy (709765)

One of my all-time favourites is this set of three Velvet Touch trunks from BundleBerry by Amanda Holden. I love how well made they are but, more than anything, the velvet touch finish; also, their nod to that classic vintage style is gorgeous and they’re so versatile. I’d go for dark blue for our bedroom as we have blue feature walls.

They make perfect storage for handbags, scarves, big jumpers and books (if you don’t have shelves in your room). I’d also say they are perfect for children’s rooms as they can double up as little seats if the kids want but, of course, are ideal for storing toys, linen and all those clothes that you can’t bear to part with.

Bright and floral Cozee Home bedding

When it comes to bedding, I’m a huge Cozee Home fan. The quality is second to none and you always know it will look and feel great. I’m moving from my dark, jewel-coloured bedding of the winter months to those beautiful soft florals. Think sky blues, pastel pinks, sunshine yellows and warm whites with prints of spring-fresh florals.

My Home Stories rug (816674)

I always say that the bed, and its bedding, are the biggest swathes of colour in your bedroom, so it makes a huge impact. You don’t have to redecorate the room to make a big change; by simply changing and coordinating your bedding and adding a light-toned rug – like this little number from My Home Stories – you’ll have a much more affordable way to feel the change.

Happy spring and best wishes,

Eilidh xx

We hate to be the ones to have to break it to you but, much as we’d like to hold on to it, this year’s glorious summer (which was, on occasion, a little too glorious if we’re honest) is slipping away. The kids are back in school, the days are getting shorter and (say it quietly) the weather’s getting just a mite cooler.

As we transition from summer into autumn, there’s no time like the present to get your home ready for the months ahead. From breaking out the heavy duvet to stocking up on snacks and tableware for the upcoming party season, there’s plenty to think about.

So, how are you looking to shake up (or stock up) your home this autumn? Here are our top picks for a few very important aspects of your autumn home.

Large jar candle being lit

Sensory indulgence

A place can look as cosy as can be but there’s no fooling your nose: the fragrance of your home plays a huge part in the sense of wellbeing that you enjoy there. And, in terms of setting the tone for your home, there’s nothing quite like a scented candle.

Homeworx by Slatkin & Co have been creating wonderful scented candles for years now and, as these beautiful filled apple and pumpkin ceramic candles demonstrate, they understand that your scented candles are as much a decorative element in your home as they are a fragrant one.

Beekman 1802 laundry soap

As well as boosting the scent of your home, why not improve the smell of your laundry too? Having impressed with their sublime range of bath and body skincare, Beekman 1802 have brought the wonderful properties of goat’s milk to bear on your washing machine with this Happy Place Laundry Soap – a fragrance-layering must for fans of the range.

Party time

While the window for BBQs and garden parties is certainly closing (if it’s not already securely bolted with the curtain drawn against the draft) there’s no reason you can’t move the party indoors for autumn. If nothing else, it will serve as good practice for gatherings to come when the winter holiday season rolls around.

Burberry by Amanda Holden Champagne flutes

Amanda Holden’s got you covered for partyware with some gorgeous additions to her Bundleberry range. We are absolutely loving these fluted Champagne glasses and there’s plenty more party-ready pieces where that came from!

Not to be outdone, Culinary Concepts have produced a stunning piece in this octopus-design stand and glass bowl. It’s perfect for wowing your guests while serving up delicious finger-food nibbles.

And the dazzling tableware treats and delightful home decor doesn’t stop there – you’ll find a host of eye-catching designs from the likes of JM by Julien Macdonald and K by Kelly Hoppen on the QVC site for you and your guests to enjoy too.

Safe and secure

As the days get shorter and nightfall comes earlier, it’s easy to start fretting about your home and loved ones. That’s why we wanted to help you to feel safer in your home with a little help from the likes of TP-Link and the rest of our selection of security devices.

Tapo security camera

This Tapo C320WS outdoor security camera system is a great way to increase security around your home to help you feel more at ease. It works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for easy voice control, while it also gives you the power to keep a watch on your home wherever you are, with two-way audio allowing you to talk to any visitors.

Bell & Howell Smartphone and tablet stands

We’re looking out for your gadgets too with these handy stands from Bell & Howell. No more sudden dips for your smartphone as it slips from its precarious perch behind the sink while you’re washing up (just us?) nor cracked screens as tablets topple from their impromptu viewing perches.

K by Kelly Hoppen throw

But ultimately, if you want to feel as snug as a firmly enrugged insect (as the saying goes), there’s nothing quite like hitting the couch and wrapping up in a cosy throw. This chic Signature number from K by Kelly Hoppen, for example, will add a stylish touch to s front room through the day and a comforting snuggle through the evening – perfect!

Speaking of snuggling…

Duvet days ahoy

If you’ve not shifted already, it will soon be time to switch from the light, breezy bedding of the summer months to the fluffy cocoon of the colder half of the year. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Cozee Home duvet sets

Cozee Home is very much a “what it says on the tin” kind of collection. Their luxuriously soft duvet sets are an absolute joy to experience, and we’ve got a wide range for you to discover; from solid simple stripes to gorgeous floral prints you’ll find a style to suit all tastes and temperaments.

Looking for something a little more revolutionary, bed-wise? There’s no time like autumn to make that mattress upgrade that you’ve been dreaming of. This Emma Hybrid mattress was rated as a Which? Best Buy in August 2021 and comes with a 200-night no-quibble sleep trial, so why not give it a go?

Sunny-yellow daffodils are blooming, blue skies are peeping and birds are calling. Hello spring. We’re well and truly heading into the season now and if you’re feeling inspired to pack away the winter blankets and welcome in a sprinkle of spring, we’ve got you covered.

Our latest collection, Your Spring Home, takes you on a tour through the living room, bedroom, kitchen and out into the garden, with an abundance of new products and fresh designs to help revitalise each space. Here’s a snippet of what to expect…

Living Room

Nothing says spring like beautiful blooms. They’re perfect for adding a pop of colour to your decor and are known to be mood-boosters. If you’re worried about maintenance, these realistic-looking faux Spring Blooms from Peony are a fantastic alternative and capture the splendour of the season perfectly. The arrangement comes in a choice of Magnolia, Blossom or Forsythia and with a recycled glass vase, ready for placing on a coffee table, fireplace or window.

With a gorgeous case in a choice of fun prints designed by Emma Bridgewater, this Retro Mini Radio will make another great addition to your spring living room. It features a Bluetooth connection and aux input, so you can play your favourite tunes as well as listen to the radio, ensuring you’ve got the best soundtrack playing for your busy morning or end of day wind-down.

Bedroom

One ultra-comfortable addition we recommend adding to your boudoir this spring is the Anti-Snore Pillow from Silentnight’s Luxury collection. It works to support your back and neck, promoting better breathing and an improvement to your snoring as you sleep, so you (or your partner!) will be sleeping peacefully in no time.

For looks as well as comfort, this Stripe/Spot Reverse Duvet Set from Silentnight is all you need to instantly change up your bedroom look. It boasts a sleek stripe design on one side, with a modern abstract print on the other, and comes in a classic colour choice of Denim with Blue contrast or Blush with Grey contrast. Made from a soft cotton-mix fabric that’s machine washable, it’s easy to care for too!

Kitchen

Heading into the heart of the home, the Botanic Garden Oven Dish Set from Portmeirion will add charm to your next meal. Featuring an intricate floral design on each dish, they’re perfect for serving up everything from steamed vegetables to hearty pies in. Bonus – they’re dishwasher and microwave safe too!

Now although we’re getting teased with slightly sunnier, milder days, the evenings remain chilly. But with daylight lasting longer, we’re all up for making the most of every hour in the garden. In comes the Velvetiser from Hotel Chocolat. Complete with two pod cups and a delicious selection of single serve hot chocolate sachets, this clever at-home system produces barista-grade hot chocolate that is sure to help you stay warm on cool evenings. All you’ll have to do is grab a cup, a blanket and a good book, then head to your favourite spot in the garden or out on the balcony to watch the stars come out.

Outdoors

If your outside space is looking a little tired after the winter slumber, a fabulous way to instantly energise it is with a stylish rug! We’re loving this reversible indoor/outdoor one from Home Reflections, which has a slightly different, sophisticated Tuscan border print on each side, so you can change up the look whenever you’re ready for another refresh.

For more visual impact in your outside space as we head further into the sunny seasons, look to this stunning collection of Dahlia Labella Maggiore from Thompson & Morgan. These exotic-looking, vibrant blooms start to flower in July and look magnificent in borders and patio pots, as well as make lovely cut flowers for summer displays and bouquets.
