Not so bleak midwinter!

It’s funny, this time of year can often be my least favourite because Christmas feels like a lifetime ago and spring still seems so far away. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a glass-half-full kinda gal who always looks for the silver linings, even when faced with the most challenging situations, but it’s not called the ‘bleak midwinter’ for nothing.

I haven’t made any New Year’s resolutions as such, but I do appear to have adopted an unofficial one, and that’s to spend a little more time enjoying the people in my life. Many of my dearest friends were made here at QVC. When I say it’s like a family I really do mean it. Pipa and I were chatting yesterday and we were saying how true that is. Many of us have grown up together in a way. We’ve been through the good and bad times together just like family, and there is a real sense of belonging to something very special.

Tom Ogden, who many of you will know and love for his passion and knowledge of beauty, spent several years with us at QVC with Alpha H. That chapter drew to a natural close not long after the very sad passing of his dear friend and founder of Alpha-H, Michelle Doherty. I was honoured to share Tom’s final Alpha-H show with him, which was bittersweet, as we were sad to see him leave, but also happy, to see him embark on his next adventures. We spent a wonderful afternoon together at The Ivy in leafy Richmond the other day. These days I much prefer an afternoon out than crazy late nightery. It was a perfect, long, lingering lunch. So great to catch up with Tom.
