A great deal and a special thanks to the NHS

Hello, I hope this blog finds you safe and well.

I’ve been absent from work this last week or so with a knee problem, which meant an unexpected stay in hospital for a few days. I’m home now, and hopefully back on air soon. But my reason for mentioning it is to shout from the rooftops, as so many of us do, about our wonderful NHS workers. I’m beyond grateful. Where do I begin?

I’ve always been in awe of the truly amazing people who work for the NHS, and I’m always really humbled at the level of care and kindness I receive. Everyone was, quite simply, brilliant. Let’s start with the Porters who kindly wheeled me from A-B. I could’ve chatted to them all day long, but like everyone else, they’re so busy with so much to do.

Then of course, the Nurses, Carers, Cleaning Staff, Doctors, Consultants, Caterers (wow, the food was seriously good), Reception (who made me feel so welcome from the beginning) and everyone else who made my stay as comfortable as possible. I learnt so much and observed just a small slice of the day-to-day running of a ward. I was blown away. I’m also staggered at the length of some of the shifts. One nurse I spoke to – her shift is 13 hours! I honestly don’t know how they do it. Thank you so so much. It takes a very special person to do what you do and I’m beyond grateful.

So, back home. I’m watching lots of daytime TV and old re-runs of classic TV Shows like Bullseye. I wish they’d bring it back, and I love seeing the prizes they used to give away – brilliant! I’m also really enjoying The Repair Shop and reliving some of my favourite episodes. I think it’s one of the best shows to come out of the BBC in recent years. Great format.

I’ve also taken up a new hobby. No DIY for the foreseeable future! Ha, I’m not complaining – although there’s a little bit of damage to the woodwork at the bottom of the stairs which needs attention, but that’ll have to wait.

Oh, whilst I’ve been off, I did place an order with QVC and it arrived a few days ago. The fabulous Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser! I can’t wait to try this, but as I’m so tricky to buy for (I’ve been told!) it’s been whisked away and going to be given to me as a Christmas present instead. I’m not sure I can wait that long. It was a recent Today’s Special Value offer and we went for the White.

Time is flying and Christmas shopping is very much underway. Our money-back guarantee, of course, is now extended for those gifts – taking you to the end of January.

Maybe however, you’re on the search for something… just for you. Perhaps a new mattress is on the horizon? Well, do check out the fantastic Emma Hybrid Mattress Today’s Special Value offer, launching on air Monday 25th October at 9pm, taking us into Tuesday.

This brand is astonishing. The demand for an Emma mattress is vast, and they’ve got a huge number of awards to their name too. Plus, it’s available to order right away, nice and early, ahead of the on-air launch. Find out all about it right here. It’s an incredible mattress.

Right, in the meantime, a little more daytime TV with my Cairn terriers.

See you soon and take care.

Thank You NHS staff… you’re amazing! x

  2. Thank you, Charlie. My daughter is a doctor at a London Hospital and has had the busiest two years of her life. I have been able to see, first hand, how relentless their schedule is and how hard they all work. On one particular day, very recently, her shift started at 7.30 am and, due to circumstances, she didn’t clock off until 2.30 am the following morning! I hope you are recovering and your knee is fully better very soon. Enjoy the hot chocolate and look forward to seeing you back on air.

I’m simply lost for words. That’s a 19 hour shift. I’m utterly astounded. You must be so proud of your daughter. I feel so humbled by such incredible people and all that they do for the rest of us. Do please send my warmest wishes and biggest thanks to your daughter.

      Kind regards

      Charlie
