New Year health kick help! And my pick of the decade

I can’t believe it’s here. End of the year, end of the decade. See below for some of the highlights of the last ten years (just a little mention because we have some very important things for you in this blog, kicking off the New Year!)

I might not be able to believe it’s already the beginning of January… but QVC can! When 2020 kicks off, the Winter Sale has all but finished on your favourite shopping channel and New Year, New You is back! That’s followed by New Year, New Home on Saturday (4th) and Look Good, Feel Good day.

Over the next few days, we will not only bring you the most amazing Sealy Posturepedic bed (all day Saturday 4th), but available now – click here to see and buy it early – best bed I’ve ever slept in! I rely on these incredible mattresses for the greatest night’s sleep I have had. Then on Sunday you can get the new Aeropilates Four Cord Reformer with DVD library. It’s also available on early bird link if you go here now.

Plus today’s, (Friday 3rd) is so good for people who are beginners – the Seated Smooth Action Elliptical Trainer from Cubii Jnr. It’s back, but only on special until midnight tonight! Find out about it via Jilly’s launch here.

There, that is your weekend round up! There’s also a selection of New Year sale shows, so don’t forget to look out for the bargains. Our 15% extra discount code sale15 applies for another couple of weeks yet, so feel free to spend your Christmas money wisely and well!

A frenzy of fun

It really has felt like a frenzy of get-togethers over the last week, more than ever before actually. Not only over Christmas, but through New Year as well. At New Year, I went to see my niece Jodie, her hubby, baby Wilf and my great friends, her mum Nikki and stepdad Brian – as they were staying down in Ilfracombe, which isn’t far from me in Devon. So after my frenetic Christmas and hectic work schedule, I eventually finished on the 30th and went down to Devon for three days. Very unusual for me!

Daisy dog was very pleased to see me after spending Christmas with her friends in Leatherhead, and we had a lovely couple of walks. I did my first New Year vlog as well. Go here to watch it and do follow me on social media to see more updates in between these weekly blogs on our QVC site.

It was a little bit of a flying visit, and I very much appreciated having some me-time, but I came home to a mountain of cards considering I had been away for 13 days. Thanks to the lovely pals who always look after the place for me when I am gone. It meant I missed out on sending cards to quite a few people myself this time, but I have liked sending and receiving special e-greetings, including one from my lovely friends Denise and Paul, also from my great pal, former QVC model Goody, very busy now with her acupuncture therapy business. Must send one back… must send one back. Plus, with so many nice cards, I have a whole host of potential labels for Christmas presents for next year, once I remember where I put the pinking shears!

Question – is it okay to send Christmas cards that will arrive after Christmas day? What do you think? Well, at least with e-greetings I can say happy New Year!

Supplement your health

3rd January is a big day for “feel good” products, and lovely mate Emma from Imedeen is back with her amazing Marine Complex products, look out for them or go here to find out more from Imedeen. What’s good enough for Joanna Lumley, is good enough for me!

My brother Glenn was terribly ill before Christmas, and both he and I find great value in drinking those green drinks, often in powders. Well, I do like Dr Max’s version in effervescent daily tablets that incorporate kale, broccoli, spirulina et cetera, as well as essential vitamins. He has his first whole hour-long shows on 3rd and what is left will be here on our website under Prime Fifty, so do go and take a look.

I think it’s good to start off as you mean to go on in the New Year and it’s nice to have all of these options for motivation as a confirmation that something’s got to change. That’s me this year, for sure! Plus, we can help you with the Aeropilates, or making your bed more comfortable with Sealy don’t forget! Plus… Fiona Summers is back!

The Leg Master returns – go here to find it if there’s any left! And Bodyblade is on 8th including midday with Simon and 6pm with me. Can’t wait!

So all in all, we have so much for you to look forward to in the first week or so of the new decade on your favourite shopping channel! Don’t forget you can check out the TV Guide to see when brands are returning, plus you can always sign up for emails so that you don’t miss a show. Enjoy!

Some of my fave pics over the last decade

Considering the new decade has now begun, I thought I would pick out just a few of the highlights from the last 10 years, so to kick off, obviously being back at QVC is the one of biggest highlights of all, and naturally having two little grandchildren now! Plus, my daughter’s wedding, my son’s wedding, some fabulous holidays, and obviously publishing my books – I’ve been very, very proud of those. Especially the day when my Take a Chance On Me made it to number 79 on the bookshelves in WHSmith’s, and I had a super book launch party in Chiswick and a book signing in Harrods.

Learning macrobiotic cooking in Scotland and giving up dairy, changing my lifestyle et cetera. Going to Italy with Craigie and having a wonderful time. Iceland with my friend Gill including the memorable Blue Lagoon, even if we did not see the Northern Lights. New Orleans: holding a snake, holding an alligator, scaling a climbing wall, and diving to the coral reef in a submarine. Las Vegas with my mum and sister, including a helicopter and boat ride up the Grand Canyon.Beijing and the wall. LA with Bruce & Antthony. Inside Stonehenge with a heritage group. Indoor skydiving with Patrick Hoy and Gill Gauntlett. The 30th anniversary appearance on CBBC. Bloopers on ITV. Too many memories, some captured here in photographs. What a lovely decade.

Also becoming a Medical Detection Dog’s ambassador and naming a little diabetes detection dog Derek, after my late dad. Getting to know some wonderful ladies on Facebook and running some brilliant charity events. Singing with the jazz group in both London and Torrington. Creating the lovely little tearooms in Sheepwash and holding events there as well. The singing concert for Sheepwash Church with my lovely friend Barry. Doing a walk-on cameo in the Happy Days musical in Milton Keynes. Watching some brilliant theatre and excellent films. Moving away from Surrey to take a punt at running a writing retreat in Devon and creating a whole new circle of friends, some of whom have become my best friends. Yoga with Jennie, adventures with Sheena, chats with Alix. Meeting some of my political heroes and some real political highlights.

I’ve had too many QVC highlights to name, but meeting Wayne Dyer and guesting on QVC Italy on the Back Magic Today’s Special Value was another highlight, as well as having my own show, Back to You and meeting all the lovely people that that brought me in contact with. Selling my non-fiction book, ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims on QVC as well! Interviewing Mick Hucknall from Simply Red, Scary Spice (Mel B) and more. My birthday outings, including Craig as the jester for my 50th – he made my year. Reading some incredible books, mostly audiobooks: two standout ones include Behind Her Eyes, and Reviver. As well as the whole of the Rivers of London series with one of the best narrators ever. Julie Cohen‘s books, Joanna Cannon’s and Rowan Coleman’s too. And AJ Pearce’s Dear Mrs Bird – looking forward to the TV adaptation! Going to some incredible writing workshops and retreats, finding firm friendships in my writing gang and some lovely times with my besties. Then meeting Diana Gabledon, one of my favourite authors. Watching the TV version of her series, Outlander. Just genius.

I could go on, but without even starting on family ones, I think that’s enough to be going on with for now. It’s been another great decade and as I approach 60 in three years’ time, I’m sure the next 10 years will be amazing as well. I’ll make sure of it!

Watch

A fab film over Christmas was the latest Jumanji at the cinema. I highly recommend it. Izzy and Lara my nieces persuaded me to watch the previous one at home first, which stars Jack Black and the Rock, and I loved it. The sequel is cleverly done and features enough innovative new twists to be equally as good as their previous one. Four friends get magicked inside a video game but swap personalities for some original moments. Funny, great acting, highly enjoyable. Catch it if you can, but see the first one before you go.

Book of the week

I have “squeezed” in Blood Orange this week on audiobook, and it’s brilliant. I’ve featured it previously, so let me recommend an unusual one for anybody who has been feeling loss over the festive period. Anita Moorjani’s Dying to Be Me is the story of a lady who had a near death experience and came back to tell the tale, throwing an interesting light on what – according to her story – happens after we die. Fascinating. Let me know what you think of it.

Blooper

If you saw the whole thing I’m sure it would have meant more, but meanwhile, here is a little clip of the Attitudes by Renee show I did with Donna Coulling. We were doing a Marilyn Monroe walk across the studio in this little boomerang video clip she tweeted afterwards!

Plus, enjoy this little throwback blooper!
