When Blake came to stay

We have had some beautiful sunny days, haven’t we?! This was on one of my lovely walks this week, as I had 11 days off for annual leave, 🙂 and it has been gorgeous! I’ve really enjoyed having enough time to sit and soak up the (winter) sunshine and relax during the day, get lots of jobs done and also entertain my little three-year-old granddaughter Blake. We all need to take a breather sometimes, don’t we?!

I also made sure that I had as many different vegetables as possible. I’m doing a kind of a “30 different vegetables a week” challenge! This dinner helped though. It’s what I was greeted with when I got home on Sunday night! Some from my brother and some from my sister, and lots of different types of veg. Lucky me! 🙂 I could eat that all again right now. 🙂 I do like it when they send me meals on wheels ha ha.

Blake came to stay, and we did our usual walks, played numbers, letters, jewellery, make-up, watched Prince Caspian, and by the end of two days I was thoroughly whacked out! More from Blake’s little mini break with me next week, and of course while she was here, we had a lovely chat with my second granddaughter – Phoebe.

Snippets

Phoebe’s so growd up

Here she is, looking behind her on the stairs at their place. My beautiful little two and a half-year-old granddaughter who lives in Wales, and whom I miss so much, sent me a couple of videos this week. (Well… Lauren did). She said things like, “I want to spend the whole day with you Nan Nan,” and “I’m going to bed now, Nan Nan”. Bless her little heart. Roll on the day I can go and see her. It’s getting closer and closer!

Easter card

Got an early Easter card from my lovely friend Dawn Robinson, who never fails to send lovely little treats. Thanks Dawn, lovely lady! Plus, what a nice gift from the Liz Earle team, as they celebrate 25 years on QVC. Monogrammed cloths! I shan’t want to use it, rather keep it safe and sound. Check out the Liz Earle range, there is a huge amount on offer this week and some special shows to celebrate – including event prices.

Marie-Francoise has had a girl!

How lovely! Our Kipling guest posted this on social media this week, all about her new arrival. Just look at Mia’s face, so happy! Quite a whopper again, but then MF was huge, wasn’t she? If you remember her bump on some of the pics recently! Congratulations to the lovely family. Whilst she is off, Lucy Piper is brand ambassador for Kipling bags, we did a show last week and there were some incredible deals, I even ordered one myself as my new one. You can see some of the deals here.

Other bits

Just wanted to say how pleased and proud I have been to be a volunteer for the vaccination program in the UK, especially as we passed 30 million vaccines delivered across the UK last week. There was no outing for me as some of the sessions were cancelled because of lower supplies, but hopefully next week. Hope you got yours okay!

Stefano

Plus, just a quick moment to remember Stefano Marescotti, our previous Magniflex guest. He passed away this week sadly and we are all respecting the privacy of his family and friends. You may have seen a mention on social media and I just wanted to say what a nice guy he was and how much we all remember him. RIP Stefano.

Podcast

This week, as a start to The Garden Escape series, Will is joined by Michael Perry as they sit down to chat with Richard Jackson and Joe Smith from Grumpy Gardener. Next week, Michael joins Will again for a focus on brands Plants2Gardens and Auraglow. You can listen to all the podcasts here.

Watch – Grace & Frankie!

I’ve discovered Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin and this hilarious older life woes show. I’m just loving it. Their husbands turn out to have been having an affair for 20 years, leaving the two old women on their own. Lily Tomlin is a hippy dippy adoptive mother, and Jane is a prissy ex-business woman and a mother of two hilarious daughters. For some reason, it reminds me of Cougar Town, Friends, and several others. I’m already 12 episodes in, Netflix keeps asking me if I’m still watching Grace & Frankie. 🙂 I’ve been using my time off well ha ha. Highly recommended! Glad Netflix has several series. 🙂

Blooper

Sometimes, you’ve just got to moonwalk!

Vlog

Some beautiful weather this week, join me for a sunshine meander through the woods here! (Don’t forget to follow my social media for more of the same in between blogs!)

Book of the week

I bought some more credits and had a little spree on several new audiobooks this week. What Abigail Did That Summer is a novella by Ben Aaronovitch, part of the Rivers of London series. While her cousin, police constable and apprentice wizard Peter Grant, is off in the sticks chasing unicorns, Abigail is chasing her own mystery. Teenagers around Hampstead Heath have been going missing. It’s a job for ghost-hunter, fox-whisperer and trouble-maker Abigail. I like a bit of supernatural stuff, and while this doesn’t star Peter Grant much, and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is not narrating (booo) it’s a nice stopgap ’til the next Rivers of London book comes out!

QVC top deals for the next seven days

Friday (today) – go here to see and buy what’s left of the Tweak’d Volumise and Restore five-piece set with gift bags, just right for lockdown hair.

Saturday – time for another Dyson vacuum cleaner deal, the cordless V8 Animal Extra, and at a really, really good price. On Easy Pay, and also with the 60 day trial, it means that you get to actually use it and see what comes out of your carpet after you’ve used your existing vacuum cleaner! Over and over again! 🙂

Sunday – time for one of my favourite brands, Gatineau with the Defi Lift 3D Targeted Serum Skincare collection, really good value, in fact, incredible value! Considering it features the throat and neck gel I have used for about 20 years or so! It is partly responsible for what my neck looks like today, not bad for a 59-year-old… well 59 in May! It’s £40 on its own. Plus, you get the Defi Lift serum, which is reformulated and rich and really works powerfully, and incredibly, Defi Lift Eye Treatment, plus the day serum to help those lines and wrinkles. One of the best sets ever. Especially if you want to keep using your existing cleanser, day cream and night cream, then the rest of this fits around it. Don’t miss it!

  1. Hi Debbie,
Firstly, I’m so shocked at the death of Stefano. That is just so sad. I’ll not ask any questions, just say I’m really sorry to hear that. You never know what is going on behind closed doors and I can’t help but think more people would do well to remember that these days. It’s terrible how opinionated and divided the world is with some awful scenes of late.
On a happier note, the health service and scientists are cracking on doing such a good deed for everyone.
Take care and hope your eye is ok x

  2. Oh Debs I do so LOVE your blogs – they take me back to the early days when I joined QVC – you never change, always bright and breezy and each product gains your attention to details (which are rarely on product page these days – especially when it comes to fashion for us shorter stature little devils). You are so lucky to have such a super family and I adore watching your videos of them, especially the children) You seem far more relaxed now that you have moved house, especially as it is nearer to family. Here in Manchester we have had rotten miserable weather – rain (and more rain), winds (gale force) and flipping freezing cold. In fact this morning I got up at 4.15am and was frozen – I always leave window open – the speed at which I got to that window and closed it with a bang had to be seen to be believed!!! Well my love, enjoy your mini-break, keep well and safe. Stay being the Debs we al know and love. p.s. Am 86 on May 31st and am going to start slapping on neck cream with a vengeance – not bad, but could be better. Much love to you and yours. xxxx

  3. Hi Debs
