October fashion and a taste of Christmas

Hi there!

I hope this finds you well and feeling positive. We have, without doubt, arrived in autumn with a bit of a wet and windy bump. I rather enjoy the change of seasons that living in Britain brings. Let’s face it – it gives us something to talk about!!

I’ve always felt that if I lived in perpetually hot and sunny weather, I’d miss that amazing feeling on early spring mornings that herald the end of winter. There’s also something to be said for the weather we’ve ‘enjoyed’ recently – it really helps you appreciate cosying up on the sofa with a good book or a series on Netflix (or hopefully, with QVC!?).

I especially revel in that feeling after I’ve been outside braving the weather doing some exercise. I love the sense that I’ve ‘earned’ my relaxation…

One of the things that makes this time of year special for me is the chance to wear more clothes and generally layer up with some of my favourites. It also means I get to bring out my first-choice footwear from the cupboard – ankle boots.

I use October as an excuse – no! A reason! – to invest in another pair of boots. I think I might have to indulge in our Style Big Deal this week – the Yancoal boot from Emu. My only dilemma is choosing the colour!

Available in black, black/charcoal and espresso, it’s between the second two for me.  I think the rich, warm brown will win over the chic two-tone option. I’d better hurry up, as the saving is over £35 at a limited time offer.

The boots are from Emu’s Explorer range and they’re designed to keep your feet dry and warm in any weather, while looking more stylish than you’d expect for such functional footwear.

Made from water-resistant leather and nubuck with a grippy rubber outsole and super soft merino wool lining, the boots have a sleek, streamlined look. There’s a diagonal zip with a water-resistant guard, plus subtle stud detailing around the sole.

I think they have a modern, slightly minimalistic look that will complement most outfits; from leggings or skinny jeans, to miniskirts with textured tights or your favourite longer dress. The heel height is 3.5cm (1.4″) and the height of the boot is 28cm (11″).

The boots fit true to size and if you’re a half size, Emu suggest you size up to the next full size. Also, if you prefer a loose fit for boots, or to wear thick socks, it’s recommended that you select the size up from your usual size.

Bear in mind that the merino wool lining keeps your toes toasty (lovely without socks) and that it also may flatten slightly to give more space after you’ve worn them a few times.

One of the best things with QVC is when you’re buying fashion, or indeed anything, is our money back guarantee. It’s been extended to 60 days due to Covid-19, which really gives you a chance to wear the boots and see how comfortable they are.

Right now though and into December, the guarantee lasts until January 31st for anything you buy as a Christmas gift, providing tremendous peace of mind that if anything isn’t right, you can return for a refund or exchange.

If these aren’t the perfect style for you or you’re looking for something with a slightly lower price point but still available on three EZ pay, we have a special promotion with a huge selection to choose from here.

Keeping with fashion, I have to say I’m constantly impressed with what Ruth Langsford offers in her range. My latest purchase is her V-neckline jumper with a subtle sparkle.

I chose the Berry but there’s a new colour Ice that I have my eye on, too. My dressing room mate Ali Keenan looked stunning in another new colour Cobalt the other day, so you may want to try that for a splash of winter colour.

Look out for more from Ruth as we approach the festive season. She’ll be bringing us some gorgeously stylish alternatives to the novelty Christmas jumper, featuring snowflakes, stags and more coming soon.

As Christmas gets closer, we’ll all be planning to make the best out of what might be a more restricted time compared to past years. However, there’s lots we can do to keep the cheer going, not least in the eating department!

We will be enjoying lots of ideas from the QVC festive kitchen this year and on Friday this week, where we are offering the first ever Lambertz Today’s Special Value (809802).

Lambertz is Germany’s oldest brand for sweet goods and has been giving moments of pleasure to its customers since 1688. They started as a small bakery all those years ago and their specialty was Printen gingerbread, which are soft baked cookies that have now become famous around the world.

The ones we have on Friday are all traditional gingerbread combined with a variety of other flavours such as honey, nuts or jellied fruits and then coated in chocolate. You get two tins (eat one, give one???), featuring a traditional Christmas stag design in either green, white or blue – with each one full of 750g of quality tasty treats.

We love to help make Christmas easy for you, and Friday might just be a great start with our all-day Taste of Christmas event. We’ll kick off a special Christmas themed weekend when we’ll be bringing you a wealth of suggestions to inspire you for gifting, entertaining and decorating.

I do hope you can join us for part of it.

Take care and all best wishes to you.
