No matter the season or occasion, a white shirt is the ultimate staple item to add to your wardrobe. With a plethora of styling options to choose from, we’ve picked our favourite ways to wear this classic piece.

For running errands

Got a busy day ahead of you? Throwing on a classic button-up shirt is a fuss-free way to ensure you look chic whether you’re picking the kids up from school, heading to the supermarket or getting jobs done. For a casual yet elegant ensemble, we like to layer an over-sized style over slim-cut jeans (white shirts and denim are a match made in heaven!), with either the sleeves rolled up if the sun is shining, or a biker jacket layered on top if needed.

You could even try double-denim for a modern, on-trend option! As for footwear, a comfy pair of trainers or ankle boots will pull the look together while making sure you can stay on your feet all day.

For a day of shopping

If you’re hitting the shops, layers are a great way of making sure you stay cool and collected while walking the aisles, but still nice and warm when strolling around outside. Why not try a shirt worn open over the top of a longline cami, styled with a pair of slim-fit black trousers tucked into knee-high boots?

But if you love an equestrian flair, try wearing your favourite design buttoned up to the neck and tucked into dark denim jeans, before adding a fitted blazer as a finishing touch.

For the office

Nothing says “I mean business” more than wearing a chic suit into the board room. Whether you prefer a neutral colour palette for a day at work or love to experiment with a splash of colour, there’s a suit out there for everyone.

Our favourite combo is a classic monochrome look. A black suit, a white shirt and a pop of bright red lipstick to really make your look pop. Try a jacket that pulls in at the waistline over a fitted shirt to create the illusion of an hourglass figure and add your favourite heels for an instant hit of confidence.

For an evening look

When last minutes plans crop up, it can sometimes feel overwhelming when it comes to pulling an outfit together! Luckily, you can style a shirt to suit the occasion perfectly. Just wear with a pair of palazzo trousers, slip into your favourite dancing shoes (or slippers for a slap-up dinner at home) and accessorise with plenty of jewellery.

If it’s chilly out, add a faux fur jacket for a luxe finish that’ll add style and warmth to your look.

For chilly days

During the winter months, some of our favourite summer clothing can feel redundant, however a white shirt can become a key player in your cold-weather wardrobe. Why not wear underneath a fitted jumper, letting the collar show above the neckline? Add on your winter coat, a scarf and a pair of cosy boots and you’re ready to go!
