\nWell my annual leave sped by, and as promised last week, here is the second part of the update about time spent with my oldest granddaughter, which I naturally \u00a0loved!<\/p>\n
We did lots of walks and took a trip down to the nearby pond, where three-year-old Blake, my son\u2019s girl, was fascinated by the fish and birds, bless her. When we got back, she also took great joy in helping me do a bit of planting of some vegetable seeds, which will hopefully grow – at least some of them, anyway! And we watched not only Prince Caspian but also Voyage of the Dawn Treader! Hopefully we will watch part four, The Silver Chair, on YouTube, as the BBC dramatisation is the only version around, since they did not ever finish the film. Mind you, Netflix have apparently bought the rights, so watch this space.<\/p>\n\n
Blake finally went home on the Saturday afternoon to their new place, and loved her new room painted pink! Had a nice takeaway with my son and daughter-in-law, then went back and slept for two days, ha ha!<\/p>\n
Other activities<\/strong><\/p>\n Had a really nice couple of days when the weather turned and it got warm and sunny. Here is this week\u2019s vlog<\/a> – a meander in the sunshine with my sis. Can\u2019t believe next week is apparently going to be frosty again!<\/p>\n Worked at the vaccine centre again on Tuesday and managed to snaffle a lovely homemade cake that somebody kindly made and dropped off. Lots of lovely treats this week in the staffroom at Epsom grandstand where I volunteer – showing people to their seats and and wiping seats down!<\/p>\n It went quite quickly and, fortunately, even though it was quite hot outside on Tuesday, it wasn\u2019t too warm indoors. Another 640 people got their vaccines, mostly second ones and mostly Pfizer. I also got asked to send some photographs to a reporter, who wanted to do an article (see The Sun on Saturday). He liked the story about my sis and her recruits, called Team Linda! \ud83d\ude42 Another week, another day of \u2018doing my bit!\u2019<\/p>\n I wasn\u2019t off for the whole 11 days, as you may know if you saw me do the extra shift on Monday as sickness cover!<\/p>\n Now the end of the holiday year has been and gone (we all had to use up our remaining leave, or lose it!) and another era begins. Coincides with things opening up a little bit! I hope to see my daughter and her little one in Wales within the next couple of weeks. I sent them a nice big box of goodies to open on Easter weekend. No chocolate, but lots of bunnies and fluffy stuff. \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 I hope you have a nice Easter too \ud83d\ude42 I\u2019m working for most of it!<\/p>\n Snippets<\/strong><\/p>\n Ziggy doggy<\/strong><\/p>\n I got the chance to go and doggy-sit for a little while this week, which was marvelous because Ziggy, my brother\u2019s dog, was over the moon to see me and kept jumping around excitedly! He is cuter than ever!<\/p>\n Mat Trim\u2019s take on Suez<\/strong><\/p>\n This made me laugh! Funny! (Liz White, one of the main actresses in this one, was in Life on Mars. I wondered where she had gone!) I won\u2019t issue a spoiler because you may watch it, but suffice to say, I was a little disappointed. When you watch it to the end you will know why. \ud83d\ude42 There was also too much of a coincidence with one aspect of the murder weapon, in my opinion. But still worth a watch and I hear there will be series 5!<\/p>\n I watched lots of Zoom meetings, and some cool documentaries, plus loads more Grace & Frankie! I know how to live ha ha.<\/p>\n Podcast<\/strong><\/p>\n Continuing the Garden Escape series, Will caught up with Plants2Garden<\/strong><\/a> founder Ken Evans and Micheal Perry talks about outdoor lights with Sam Field from Auraglow<\/strong><\/a>. You can listen to all the podcasts here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Book of the week<\/strong><\/p>\n It was time for another book group meeting with my friend Shyama and the gang, and the book we were supposed to read was Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. I have two hours or so left, as it is a short book. One of the girls had recommended it as she loved it, but it\u2019s quite hard to listen to for me. It\u2019s about a fairly neglected kid with a narcissist father, and has a bit of a supernatural twist, which I usually like, that\u2019s a bit too much dark not not enough light I think, so I won\u2019t recommend that one to you. But I\u2019ve got my eye on another one I have just downloaded, which is My Kind of Happy by Cathy Bramley.<\/p>\n \u201cFlowers have always made Fearne smile. She treasures the memories of her beloved grandmother’s floristry and helping her to arrange beautiful blooms that brought such joy to their recipients.<\/p>\n But ever since a family tragedy a year ago, Fearne has been searching for her own contentment.
