And it’s a boy!

Firstly, do go and look at this wonderful swing chair in different guises on our website. It’s the Cocoon folding egg chair, in a double or a single. There’s also a single furniture cover and the double cocoon cover, which I’ve just bought for mine! Capri, one of our lovely floor managers backstage, joined me for a little swinging time when we were promoting it one night! It was so comfortable I stayed there for another 20 minutes doing some emails! All wrapped up underneath a warm throw. By the way, if you’d love to have a look at our range of throws, do go here to see them all on our website.

It’s a boy!

""

A fourth grandbaby finally arrived and… it’s a boy! And guess how much he weighed? My daughter Lauren, his mummy, was a 10lb 9oz baby, and new little Jasper Derek Anthony Pitt, he’s not so little – he was also 10lb 9oz! Everything was fine, Lolly was home that same night, he is feeding well and settling in. I cannot wait to visit for a few days next week, and will definitely tell you all about it next week! How wonderful that both of my children had one of each like I did. What are the odds! I hope as they grow up they will be good friends, the two older girls and the two younger boys, with only nine months and six months between them. And more than that I hope they are good friends with each other just like my Bradley and Lauren have grown up to be! Can’t wait to hold the little lad, I will be taking a trip to Wales early next week! Yahoooooo!!!

Bee spinner

For those who have been waiting with baited breath, the bee spinner pendant is in stock! Or it was at time of writing! Please go here to see the new pendant I helped to design and I really did this time, I didn’t just choose it from a shortlist or add a different stone. When I was growing up my mum had a spin pendant and if you flicked it the words ‘I love you’ appeared. Well, this is my tribute to that, one side is the bee picture, in keeping with my jewellery range on QVC (Deborah means bee in ancient Hebrew and it signifies achieving the impossible, which I like.) But on the other side I put a little saying, hopefully this will be the first of a series. This one has ‘Bee Here Now,’ a very important message meaning enjoy every moment and don’t have your head in the clouds, be present with your family and friends. You can tilt it and look down and you will see the message as it’s just for you. Or you can wear the pendant completely the other way round and it will be the right way up for other people to read it. Very clever! Plus my Bee watches are back as well, so go here to see all of our bee jewellery.

Thinning thatch

""

My guesthouse in Devon was built in the 1600s. That’s when almost all the rooves everywhere were made of thatch, which is very beautiful and picture postcard but blooming expensive to maintain! I blame the crows, which seem to love picking out the bits of thatch, and the wind and the rain doesn’t help either! I have enjoyed owning a thatched house but I think I will at some stage be putting it up for sale before it all needs doing completely! I’ve enjoyed over five years in this place, and I can take my writing retreat business anywhere, so we will see! Watch this space.

50 years of Donny’s Puppy Love

""

Yes, when the world was more bothered about whether you are a David Cassidy girl or a Donny Osmond fan, yours truly was in the latter camp. And Saturday 19th February marks the 50th anniversary of the release of the iconic Puppy Love single. Here’s me around about that time in the Donny Osmond hat, playing hijinks on a roundabout at a family trip to the zoo! Always the performer as my mum would say! Another memory of Puppy Love is of course in that iconic scene in Love Actually, remember it? Are you a David Cassidy girl or a Donny Osmond devotee like me?!

Dating bantz

""

My fab pal Shyama came out for supper with me last week when she visited to see my place in Surrey for the first time. And oh my goodness she had me howling with laughter with some of her dating experiences! I told her she should write a one-woman show and tour with it. Shyama was on The Six o’Clock Show with Michael Aspel years ago, if you remember it, and I met her when I worked on an entertainment show in 1990. We go back a very long way! Not quite as long as the friends I’ll be meeting for dinner in the Rambler’s Rest next week though, Sharon and Dawn, who I went to school with, will be joining me. And I can show them all lots of pictures of the baby!

Shyama and I both agreed that it was so lovely to get out and actually go out out rather than doing the same thing the whole time. It was also lovely break for me to get away, having looked after my brother for quite awhile last week! I really hope she writes the show, she is hilarious and I know a lot of people will be able to identify with some of her dating disasters. I compared to some of mine – and we summed up that all my relationships since she has known me (and she knew my husband briefly before we got divorced), have been “what was I thinking,” moments!! Regulars of this blog with long memories will remember Rocker Nigel, Malcolm the script writer, and a near miss with a hunky builder in Devon years ago – thank goodness I stuck to my guns! Plus a psycho mortgage guy in the middle of the 2000s. Oh my goodness, even though it was Valentine’s Day this week, after laughing our heads off all evening, Shyama and I agreed we were both better off single! LOL.

New Liz Earle Glow Cleanser

The Liz Earle team do not launch a new cleanser lightly, given the popularity of the multi-multi-award-winning iconic Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, so when we all got given the brand new one I was very interested! It has a gel-like consistency and sinks into the skin very quickly. It’s very different from Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. The enzymes help to release dead skin cells so it really leaves your skin fresh and glowing. If you are a big Liz Earle skincare fan, definitely give this one a go and maybe make it a regular part of your routine. Might be just what a more mature skin needs! Look out for it launching next weekend!

Watch

OMG another week, another fabulous drama, Sheridan Smith again, The Teacher on Channel 5 has been captivating me this week. I have been looking after poorly brother amongst other – many other – things, but found time to watch this four-parter. Thought it was predictable but I liked the twist. No Return, on ITV, not so much. But Sheridan Smith’s skilful characterisation and other actors and actresses performances make this yet another mini series where I am telling people “you must watch it!” Accusations of wrongdoing at a school but are they…?! Don’t miss it!

Podcast

Did you catch Will’s chat with Clare Edmonson? Next week, he catches up with QVC guest presenter, Lorna Ko. You can listen to all the podcasts here.

Vlog

I return to my happy place in this week’s vlog!

Book of the week – A Cottage Full of Secrets

Saw this advertised by one of my regular authors, Jane Lovering, who always has a quirky and clever turn of phrase and lots of funny bits!

“When Tamzin finds a sepia photo of a woman, Stella, standing in her new Yorkshire cottage’s garden, there’s a sadness in her eyes that Tamzin recognises. As the cottage at the end of a quiet track reveals more of its secrets, Tamzin is desperate to find out what happened to the lady who lived there 50 years ago. And as she gradually makes new friends, like mysterious neighbour Euan, Tamzin begins to wonder about her own ending too…”

A nice quick read, only seven hours, so I will tuck into it as soon as I have finished the latest Jill Mansell, Should I Tell You, as Jill is always highly recommended.

QVC top deals for the next seven days

Friday (today) – go here to see and buy what’s left of the Prai Ageless and 24K Gold Bumper collection.

Saturday – join me on Friday night (tonight if you read this on the day it comes out!) at 9pm for the Shark TruePet upright vacuum with Duo Clean, anti-hair wrap and powered Lift Away! Lots of people have seen this machine before on there, but I thought I would do an unboxing time-lapse video just to show you how quick and easy it is to set up, and also virtually no plastic at all. They make sure it’s all wrapped in paper bags! And cardboard! Well done Shark!
