Catch some ZZZs with Sealy

We all know just how important a good night’s sleep is to help us feel mentally and physically well, and mattresses play a huge role in catching those much-needed Zzzs. As they form the basis of your bed, your mattress is essentially the foundation of your nightly sleep, meaning you’ll be hard pushed to find a better investment for your quality of life!

Luckily, we’ve got Sealy‘s innovative Response Gel 2100 Springs Deep Pillowtop Mattress coming up as our Today’s Special Value on 10th July, and it’s already on pre-sell if you want to get in early and snap up this fantastic offer!
To celebrate, we chatted to Sealy’s Sleep Expert, Alison Jones, about the brand’s heritage and the impressive array of technologies it offers for every kind of sleeper. Yes, including you!

Hi Alison! Sealy is a bedding brand that we all know and love, but where did it all begin?
Whilst Sealy is a global brand today, it all began with a local townsman and cotton gin builder, Daniel Haynes, in the small town of Sealy, Texas. During 1881, Haynes’ neighbour had requested a mattress filled with cotton. His creation had been so well received, the surge in requests from other townsfolk eventually led to his invention of the machine that compressed cotton for use in mattresses, which received a patent in 1889.

Once popularity for the product grew beyond the local town, customers from other regions began referring to his products as the ‘mattresses from Sealy’. After years of hard work, Haynes sold all of his wisdom and inventions to a Texan company, who adopted the name Sealy and the brand excelled beyond the US, eventually spreading worldwide. Sealy UK launched in 1974, with all our beds and mattresses being made in our factory in Aspatria, Cumbria.

What differentiates Sealy’s technology from other brands?
Our orthopaedic research, science and engineering is what makes the difference. At Sealy, we’ve researched and developed products that no other brand in the world has. We understand the science behind sleep and that each area of the body requires a different level of support to get the perfect night’s sleep.

Our innovative technology ensures that each mattress has advanced springs that are responsive to every person’s body shape and movement. It’s a combination of smart innovation, precise engineering and industry-leading research that ensures our products are of the utmost quality and durability.

Does Sealy make bedding for allergy sufferers?
Yes – we create mattresses that ensure complete allergen protection, blocking dust mites and other common household allergens. Our Sealy Purotex fibres are endorsed by Allergy UK and release friendly bacteria into the fabric of your mattress to clean up allergens, reduce humidity and create the perfect clean, healthy sleeping environment, ensuring a great night’s sleep all year round.

What mattress would you recommend to someone who suffers with mild back pain and posture difficulties?
Buying a mattress is very personal. What helps one sleeper may not help another. Often, mattresses that are too firm can end up exerting too much pressure on the back, leading to discomfort and back pain. All of our mattresses are precisely engineered to offer deep down support and long-lasting comfort that is right for you. We know that each sleeper is different – that’s why Sealy mattresses feature advanced springs and technology to create a tailored night’s sleep.

The Response Gel 2100 Springs Deep Pillowtop Mattress is no exception. Boasting the highest ever spring count that QVC has offered in a Sealy mattress, combining a total of 2100 springs with soft Geltex, temperature-regulating Smart Fibres, Allery UK-approved Purotex and a deep Pillowtop construction, the result is a precisely-engineered mattress that offers deep, consistent support and comfort as you sleep, adjusting to whatever your body needs.

The combination of firm springs, breathable Geltex and deep Pillowtop construction gives the mattress a suits-all medium tension with optimum pressure relief, so it’s ideal for everyone, including those who suffer from aches and pains.
And, thanks to its Smart Fibres, it not only provides superior comfort as you sleep, but also keeps your body’s temperature in check, so you feel fresh and clean from night until morning!
