Happy October everyone! Well as happy as it can be under the circumstances. The new measures for parts of the country I’m sure are taking their toll for many so I am sending lots of loving support and reminding you that QVC is here for you every day to keep you company even when you don’t want to shop.
We have had many messages from you all throughout this year and we all love to hear from you during the live shows and across our social media platforms so do please get in touch if you feel like it.
We have been keeping ourselves busy this past week as we had a big day for Tilda, her 9th birthday!!! Where did that time go? I swear she was just a little baby and now suddenly she is on the cusp of double digits! All we have heard for the past few months is the countdown from her and finally the big day came.
We were promptly woken up at 6.30am with a loud ‘I CAN”T WAIT ANY MOOOOOOORRRRREEEEE!!!’ So up we all got up to open Tilda’s presents and get the homemade pancakes on the go.
It has been all about the LEGO this year so it’s fantastic, as I am a big fan of this type of play as it’s so good for their development. We then got ourselves ready to go to an indoor ‘Slime Mania’ session, which due to being a playgroup activity was still able to go ahead with a group of her school bubble friends. They had a ball and all left happy with jars of slime.
The rest of the day was spent going for pizza in Bournemouth, followed by a spin on the Bournemouth Observation Wheel, a walk on the pier with all the fairground rides and a run around on the beach. We all collapsed on the sofa when we got back, surrounded by balloons and boxes of Lego and Fred and I had a well deserved glass of wine!
Roast pumpkin and chilli chorizo soup
I can’t believe that our yearly trip to the Pumpkin Patch has already come around again. This is a favourite tradition with the girls when we head to the Cat and Fiddle near the New Forest and choose our pumpkins for Halloween. We went a bit overboard this year and scooped up 8 different shaped, sized and coloured pumpkins. Some for the front step, some that we put by the fireplace and at least one for me to turn into soup.
It’s a fun day out and the perfect activity for kids at the moment as it’s outdoors and plenty of space for them to run around in the fields. We had hot chocolates covered in marshmallows and pushed the girls and pumpkins around in wheelbarrows and had a lovely time.
When we got back I set to turning one of the many pumpkins into soup. Chloe Everton had mentioned a pumpkin and chorizo soup to me and so I had to give it a try, making my own version. So here’s how I did it.
I peeled and chopped up one whole pumpkin into small chunks, (the pumpkin was roughly a 7 Inch width). I also peeled and chopped two sweet potatoes. I spread them over a large roasting dish and drizzled with olive oil. I sprinkled with salt, chilli flakes and dried sage and roasted them for about 40 mins.
Meanwhile I chopped up half a chorizo sausage, one whole red onion and 2 cloves of garlic. I added this all to a casserole pot on the hob with olive oil and on a medium heat browned the onions and the chorizo.
Once the chunks of pumpkin and sweet potato were cooked I add this to the casserole pot with 2 stock pots, one chicken and one vegetable plus a good slug of boiling water. (you can add more later to get the consistency that you want). I let this simmer for about 10 mins and then take it off the hob and left it to cool a little. I then took my stick blender to it and blended until smooth.
I am blowing my own trumpet but it was soooooo good!! I added some toasted nuts to the top to serve. You could also sprinkle with croutons and feta if you fancied it. Yum!
This week on QVC
I have quite a few things to tell you about this week!
IT Cosmetics – Available now
On Wednesday we have the Today’s Special Value offer from IT Cosmetics – 3 Piece Your Skin But Better Collection which features the brand new Your Skin But Better Foundation which is a waterlight formula. Bye Bye Undereye concealer, Superhero Mascara and a lovely make-up bag. It’s already available on pre-sell online so you can find out more about it by clicking through.
In this before and after I am wearing the Medium Cool option which I thought at first might be too light for me but it’s actually spot-on for the winter months for my skin tone. I was surprised at how light and lovely this formula is and not cakey at all in any way.
Now THIS is going to be a very popular offer this year I’m sure of it. We all need some extra comfort at the moment and delicious hot chocolate is just that in a cup. It’s an amazing offer this year. The picture I’m showing is only part of what you will actually get (This is my own one at home which I just love), you however will get so much more with the 10 pack of Latte sachets and the 2 pod cups. It’s also already available to buy now but will be on air this Saturday.
Another pre-sell ready for you to snap up ahead of Sunday’s shows. The whole weekend is a Christmas event so make sure you are tuning in to get all your Christmas shopping done early and at great prices!
This collection includes your favourite original formulas and fragrance but also the most divine limited edition Bourbon Vanilla and Clove Bud fragrance inspired by the bestselling fragrance Botanical Essence No. 15 which is also my fave too! It can be split into two gift boxes which makes it the perfect collection to tick off 2 people from your list or keep some for yourself!! (or just keep the lot). Click through to see everything that you get.
Gosh the offers are coming fast and furiously aren’t they! Don’t you worry, we’ve got you covered for the festive season.
Now I would love to chat longer but our estate agent has just called with a last minute viewing on our house and it’s an absolute bomb site after the weekend of Birthday celebrations!! I haven’t even showered yet. Yikes!
Lots of love to you all
Love Katy xxx
