As the long nights start to draw in, there’s one thing we know for certain: winter is on its way! A chic yet practical winter look can sometimes be a minefield, so we’ve picked our favourite pieces and created a capsule collection that can be layered to create a warm seasonal look that doesn’t compromise on style.
The base
Going from the chilly outdoors to the warmth of central heating can cause us to go from shivering to sweating in seconds. To avoid this, we’ve opted for light layers that look gorgeous on their own or as part of a stylish layered look. We’ve gone for the 3/4 length sleeve paisley print jumpsuit from Kim & Co, Joe Browns‘ jeggings, plus the printed 3/4 length sleeve tunic top and printed cosy cowl neckline dress from Nina Leonard. These pieces are all great options for your outfit base, offering coverage and warmth without being heavy or restricting. They will look stunning alone and will also complement other styles for when you need that something extra.
The extra layer
One of our most coveted pieces for this year is the Rino & Pelle faux-fur gilet. This gorgeous gilet just exudes style, and can be worn over your favourite jumpers, dresses and long-sleeved tops as a fantastic layer if you’re someone who quickly feels the heat. We will certainly be adding this gilet to our wardrobes for some luxurious texture and classic design.
The shoes
Winter shoes can be a difficult one. You want something that looks great without having to worry about feeling cold. We love the All Weather Gravelly boots from Emu. This timeless boot lends itself to being worn with trousers, skirts and dresses, making it a truly versatile choice. With a warm sheepskin lining, you can guarantee that your toes will stay toasty throughout the day and with the all-weather coating there is no need to panic if it starts to rain.
The accessories
This is where you can add those extra warm layers. Hats, scarves and gloves are all chic options for when it comes to fighting off the chilly air while adding some beautiful detail to your outfit. Frank Usher offers some stunning cold-weather accessories. We’ll be embracing the faux-fur trend this year in these gloves and matching scarf that’ll leave you looking fabulous and feeling supremely snug.
The outfit
So now we have our capsule wardrobe, it’s time to mix and match to create some stylish looks that are perfect for chilly days.
A day in the office
No matter how you commute to work, it can get quite stuffy if you’re all wrapped up. We’ve chosen to keep things simple for this look, pairing Nina Leonard‘s trapeze dress with the Frank Usher faux-fur scarf. For the journey, we think the Emu boots are great – especially if you have to run for the bus! Just swap them for a pair of court shoes when you arrive for a classic workwear style.
A day of running errands
Comfort is key here. You’ll find yourself in and out all day, so it’s important to have a cosy look that won’t leave you feeling too hot under the collar. We’ve paired Nina Leonard‘s 3/4 length sleeve tunic top with jeggings from Joe Browns, and added the Emu boots, faux-fur Frank Usher gloves and Rino & Pelle faux-fur gilet for that extra feeling of cosiness.
A night on the town
Just because long nights have arrived, fun evenings out don’t need to stop. The 3/4 length sleeve paisley print jumpsuit from Kim & Co is a fun and feminine design that can be dressed up appropriately for the occasion. Wrap up with the Rino & Pelle gilet and add the Frank Usher faux-fur gloves and scarf for a truly luxurious winter look.
