Outside of QVC
Last weekend, my kids totally showed me up by doing something I myself have never done. They entered their first official public running race at the Bournemouth Running Festival! I was completely gutted not to be able to see it first-hand because of work, the curse of the working parent means you can’t be at everything. I did however get up-to-the -minute updates from my mum who travelled down to see them do them run and of course Fred was there not just to cheer them on but to run with them.
I even got sent photos from other friends who were watching along the route. It was almost like being there…almost. Their little faces with their medals were incredibly special and when I got home that evening the excitement peaked again as they ran off to get their medals and show them to me so proudly. Tilda did the 1.5K and Ivy did the 1K, they both ran the whole thing and didn’t stop to walk once! As a family we think it’s so important to get them involved in this sort of thing from an early age and it keeps them fit and active. I guess I really should lead by example and enter one of these one day too. Watch this space.
Bibi Bijoux Kate Thornton launch party
Last week we had a really fun night out attending the launch party for the latest collaboration on the block, Bibi Bijoux and Kate Thornton! Chloe and I plus a gang of our lovely Jewellery buying team piled into a taxi and headed to The Allbright Club in London. I should say that we don’t get to go to these things very often so the novelty is not lost on us. Wall-to-wall faces from the world of TV came out to support their good friend Kate in showing off her beautiful collection for Bibi.
At points it was almost embarrassing, as you would look to acknowledge someone who you thought that you knew, get ready to wave and say hi and then realise, oh crikey that’s her off Eastenders!! Nearly all of the Loose Women were there, not including Ruth as she was on air at QVC. Keith Lemon made his presence known, presenters such as Laura Whitmore and Lisa Faulkner were there, actress Tracy McDonald (who plays Tracy Barlow in Corrie) and more.
Maxine who we all know and love for her Bibi Bijoux jewellery was so excited to be able to finally reveal the whole range that she has worked on with Kate and I have to say it’s a knockout collection. Same Bibi vibe but a little daintier and with more lightning bolts, sun rays and affirmations. The premier show will be at 6pm on 16th October with Kate Thornton being joined by Chloe. I shall be tuning in for sure! Some of it is already available and you can find that by clicking here.
What I wore – Shalona Dress
The dress I wore to the party and that you may have already seen me wearing on air is the Shalona Dress from our range of Monsoon. These sorts of mixed prints have been a big fashion story lately and I am a big fan. It’s a little quirky and different and the shape of the dress is so easy to wear. A simple shirt dress design with a matching print belt which can also be swapped for any other belt. 3/4 length sleeves show off bracelets but also give good arm coverage. The midi length is again ticking off a big trend, and hurray it’s got pockets!! It’s a poly elastane and perfect for throwing in the washing machine. I am a size 12 and I have the Medium.
BBC Good Food Show – QVC Kitchen
I have already announced this on my social media but if you have missed it, Will Gowing and I are going to be heading to Birmingham’s NEC for The BBC Good Food show this November! We will both be there presenting on the brand new QVC demo stand with the BEST chefs, including Rick Stein, Dean Edwards, Ching He Huang, Rahul Mandal and more! There’s Christmas, Boxing Day and party food demos and amazing prizes to be won too. If you want to visit the show and get 25% off the ticket price then please book via here. Hope to see lots of you there, we can’t wait!
Style challenge
Keep an eye out on the QVC Facebook page this Friday because the gorgeous Catherine Huntley and I will be going head to head in a style challenge in a race against the clock. This week the theme is the Zoo!! Yep we are bringing the animal print and we’re not afraid to use it. Two mannequins, who we have decided to name Meredith and Beryl will have the pleasure of being pulled in all sorts of directions while we practically wrestle to get them looking presentable by the end of it. You get the opportunity to vote for your favourite outfit, so please do join in on the fun. Check out the animal print range here on our Style Guide Page.
‘Inside QVC’ podcast
Have you heard the news?! QVC has launched a brand new podcast! You may already know that I LOVE podcasts, I have even shared some of my favourites via the blog before. I spend so much time in the car and I listen to them back-to-back so I am so pleased to have ‘Inside QVC’ to add to my list. It’s an opportunity to learn so much more about the ins and outs of QVC, our amazing guests, brands, CEOs and celebrities. Will Gowing is heading up the interviews and doing a brilliant job.
The Ruth Langsford episode kicked off the series and doesn’t disappoint, she shares amusing anecdotes about her and Eamonn, tells us how she puts together her range for QVC and how hands-on she is in the development of it all. It’s hotly followed by interiors expert Alison Cork and her very interesting story about her determination to live in Belgravia from modest beginnings and how she managed to land her house at half the cost of the value, but the truly amazing story is how she met her husband. You won’t believe it, it’s straight out of a romantic comedy.
The funniest so far has to be the chat with Lola Rose Founder Nikki Gerwitz though, I laughed out loud. Her account of receiving her OBE from HRH Prince William is a must listen, it was the first time our Will had to use the Bleep Button!! Next week Julia Roberts takes the hot seat and shares her stories of 25 years of QVC, definitely one to tune in for. Click here to listen to episode 1 or download from wherever you listen to your podcasts eg. iTunes, Spotify, Google podcasts. Don’t forget to subscribe!
Lola Rose – Today’s Special Value
Speaking of Nikki Gerwitz, we have a fantastic Lola Rose offer coming your way next week! The Lola Rose Today’s Special Value. It’s a double whammy too as you are getting two beautiful pieces. A stunning Semi Precious Mason Charm pendant and bracelet set at an incredible price. They feature the classic Lola Chinese knot and the choices are fabulous as you can see from the picture. Aqua Dalmation, Ruby in Zoisite, Black Zebra, Yellow Zebra, Riverstone, Blue Drop Stone, Tropical Mix Quartzite make up the beautiful beads and of course come with the Lola Rose pink pouch, perfect for Christmas presents. Make sure to set the reminder for the launch at 9pm on the 17th as I have a feeling some of the options could be sold out by the morning. It will be featuring all day on the 18th but as I say will probably go fast.
Right that’s it from me, I will be heading in later for the Food Fest event and be joining Andi Peters tonight for his 2 hour show so I hope you will tune in. Before that though I have to dash to the balloon shop and get Tilda’s number 8 balloon and some party bits as it’s her Birthday tomorrow. Holy Moly is she excited, we’ve had a countdown every day for the last 3 weeks. When I get in tonight I will be busily decorating the living room and laying out her pressies for the morning. Fred will take her down to the harbour this evening to watch the sunset for her last day of being 7, a tradition that I started last year.
Until next week, as always, you can keep up with me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
Lots of Love
Katy xxx
