I’m back! Yay!!

Hello! I can’t believe it’s May and I’ve not done one of these since March! Time has flown!

So you may have noticed that I was off for a while – 6 weeks to be exact. I had to have a little op and, because of Covid rules, I had to self-isolate for 2 weeks before going into hospital.

I’m going to talk ‘lady things’ now – for any chaps reading this… you may want to scroll on down! LOL!

So I thought I was peri-menopausal, few changes in my moods and cycle etc. Part of getting older. I had some checks with the GP and an ultrasound and turned out I had a big fibroid that was probably responsible, so they wanted to take it out. I was lucky that it could be done keyhole, so a couple of nights in hospital and then lots of rest. I’m absolutely fine now and hopefully will notice an improvement.

I’m sharing as I think if any woman reading this has noticed some changes, don’t just assume you know what it is, best to go and get these things checked out quickly and be sure. Thank you so much to those of you that checked in on me on social media.

I do think peri-menopause is just around the corner for me though and if you are entering it, or in it, or even just over it, we do have some products on QVC that might help.

Meg Mathews has created a range to help women going through some of the issues we face with the change. Meg’s Intimate care kit and Meg’s Menopause Meno Blend Duo Pack.

And Dr Max has also created some supplements that can help too. Prime Fifty Menopause Support 3 Month Supply.

Davina McCall did a programme about menopause for Channel 4, I must watch it, I think there’s a lot to learn about this subject. We love Davina here, and I love that she’s an advocate for women’s health. Most of her fitness range here at QVC has flown out but for some gentle exercise we have this Swiss Ball with pump and Yoga mat.

So in my last blog, I was telling you the kitchen extension had started, I wish I could now tell you it’s finished, but sadly it’s not ☹. The floor is being laid this week, kitchen hopefully next week and then doors and all the outside tidy up bits. It’s been emosh! It’s been crazy without a kitchen or washing machine. At times no boiler! Dust everywhere and no garden for the dog! However I’m sure it will be worth it!

One of the things that I could not have been without was our Cordless Dyson V11. This has been amazing at picking up all the dust and the washable filters have meant that when I’ve put it through its paces, I can simply run the filter under the tap pop it on the radiator and it’s ready to go again the next day!

As I’m sure you can imagine it’s been a fairly stressful time! If you’re also going through something and finding it hard to de-stress, or perhaps you’re looking for a gift for someone who’s stressed, then this De-Stress Essential Wellbeing Kit from Scentered could be perfect.

In other news, and good news – I’ve had my first jab! I felt horrendous for a couple of days but right as rain now, and so excited that we can hopefully all safely catch up with our loved ones now!

Sending much love to you all. I won’t leave it so long ‘til my next blog.

Take care
Alex xx

  9. Dear Alex:
Welcome back. I hope you are much better now. I also recently came back to work myself, after having total hysterectomy in March. Now in surgical menopause, I realise that I had suffered from peri-menopause for the last 5 years since I was 40. Peri-menopause and/or menopause is not just hot flushes and night sweat, but could include up to 30 different symptoms. I wish I know this earlier. Thanks for talking about it. The more it is talked about, the better. Based on your recommendation, I watched Divina’s excellent programme. Can’t wait to see your new kitchen when it’s done!

  10. Alex.
Oh I have gone on your presenter site so often just to see your finished kitchen. I love having a peek in other peoples lives just to find out that there’s too isn’t perfect. You always very easy to watch None of those Not too keen on her moments. Glad your back.

Take care and stay happy. The kitchen will be worth it in the end!

Big hugs Joanna : ) xx

  13. Hi Alex I ‘m so sorry to hear of your recent health problems ,but glad to hear you are on the mend. I have been off the radar for a while ill, and just catching up with QVC news. To say I,m happy womens health problems are taken much more seriously now, would be an understatement. Quite a while ago when I saw a female gynaecologist for the same problem, her respond was ( you are a wife, you have children you have a fulltime job, don,t you expect a little pain?) .Luckily, I was able to see a male counterpart who quickly helped me. That,s why I,M so happy you had a good outcome.
