Flashback Friday, postman Deb and future deals!

Oh my goodness, how time flies, and what a fun week I’ve had away from QVC on some annual leave, as you’ll see below…

First, though, an amazing week of announcements for bargain hunters here on your favourite shopping channel. From now until Christmas, we have launched a new initiative called ‘Today’s Festive Find’. It could be a daily discount code or it could be a new brand… Watch out for the 9pm announcement almost every night in the run-up to Christmas. Looking forward to Rylan’s first TSV among them, plus lots of ‘10% off till midnight’ codes. (Minimum spend applies.)

Secondly, after the amazing success in June, almost every beauty product is now on just £1.95 postage to help you buy some cracking Christmas gifts! For example, I’m very much looking forward to the Molton Brown annual deal that I will be bringing you in the 10pm show – if it hasn’t sold out! Look out as well for a reduced P&P on Winter Fashion!

Thirdly, there is a monthly promotion of three interest-free instalments available on all Skechers lines if you use the code SKECH3 when purchasing, (one voucher of any type per transaction). Yay! Here is a link to the range. Tip from me – click on ‘sort by’ and arrange it in ‘prices low to high’ to see some of the best deals that might sell out fast!

There’s lots of ways to make shopping even more appealing this yuletide!

By the way, for this week’s shenanigans away from QVC, I’ve put it all in the snippets section below! Just scroll down to see what I’ve been getting up to…

Glamorous ottoman

Ooo the latest Alison Cork Today’s Special Value is here Sunday night too, and I am back on QVC after coming back from Wales, just in time to help launch the brand new stylish ottoman at 9pm. Alison has done an amazing job. I had dinner with her last week and she said this… “It’s beautiful. Huge storage capacity. Velvet with matching metal legs in either gold or rose gold. Five colours. Storage, chair, end of bed, entrance hall, sitting room, coffee table, extra seating, the perfect piece for this time of year!” I agree, how stylish is this? I bet lots of people will be getting more than one, so do join us at 9pm and midnight on Sunday night to see it.

Postman Deb, postman Deb…

This week I was at a conference in Manchester and part of it featured an exhibition hall with lots of stands. It was nice to go onto this old style post van and pretend I was Postman Pat ha ha. Without the cat though or I would be sneezing too much lol. I was also fascinated by this stand featuring Nancy Astor, who became the first woman MP almost 100 years ago.

She used to get 23,000 letters a week at peak, and her helpers replied to every single one of them. How far we’ve come. Talk about throwback Friday! The aim is that 50% of women will be MPs at one point or other in the future, and I applaud it. It won’t be me though… Even though people have asked me. I do admire them all however and love politics. It was interesting to read some of the recreated letters in a pile on the desk in this display, because the period I’m writing about in my fifth novel is also around about that time. And one of the real life characters I’m basing my heroine on also got thousands of letters from ladies wanting to know about birth control in a period when it was not allowed. Again, makes you realise how far females have come in just 100 years. Thank goodness.

Flashback Friday

I know you guys like being reminded of things like this, and this one popped up on my Facebook this week. It’s been four years since I had my first skydiving experience, with fab Gill Gauntlett and lovely Patrick Hoy when we all went to Milton Keynes to see the Medical Detection doggies and then go on an adventure. A big day of firsts. Four years ago a, how time flies… Literally in this case ha ha.  I was doing a lot more with MDD back then, but I’m pleased to say I will be going to see some puppies on a training day at some point in the next couple of months, I hope. Milton Keynes is a big diversion from Devon to London :-). Also caught up briefly with fellow ambassador Andrew Pierce the journalist this week when I was away 🙂 and Iain Dale – both radio hosts as well. Shook the hands of a couple of other famous reporters too – I’m such a groupie!

Podcasts

Bang up-to-date with all the new Podcasts from Will Gowing. The first two are with Ruth Langsford and my super mate Alison Cork. Do go here to listen to them. As you may know I’m a massive fan of audiobooks and podcasts in general, as it means you can get on with other things while you are learning about stuff! Looking forward to more of these from Mr Gowing. I also like listening to the Liz Earle one on well-being, and one called Brexitcast that is very funny. My podcast app is always full!

Watch

The Apprentice is back! Enough said – watch it on catch up 🙂 And Helen Mirren also returns in a magnificent new period series called Catherine the Great. Can’t wait to see both of them, and to watch the finale of A Confession that is on soon. I plan to see Brad Pitt’s Ad Astra at the cinema too soon as I have time as well 🙂

If you want to watch something now, do you go see the QVC Style takeover, with a Facebook live from RuPaul and Mally!

Book of the Week – Blood Orange by Harriet Tice

The QVC presenters have got something of a book club going on our WhatsApp group! This book is one that has been recommended by several people including Jackie, whose recommendations I always take because she reads some cracking books (and writes some too!) Can’t wait to read about the woman who seems to have it all, until she defends her first case, featuring a client who admits she killed her husband, but did she? Looking forward to it!

Blooper

Baby shark makes it to QVC…

Tuesday – the new DPC Skin Iron anti-ageing face and body massager with extra cream, my midnight launch will be on the website and app, I think. Looks good.

WednesdayAmanda Wakeley designer bags are back with the lovely lady herself bringing us the midi Coleman triple compartment multiway bag. Again the Today’s Festive Find may come in handy.

And all day on Wednesday it’s ‘A Taste of Christmas’ with multitudes of brands that I can’t wait to choose from. Tons and tons of guests and dozens of excellent choices for cracking Christmas festive fayre.

Thursday it’s our big British meat Christmas hamper – 5.3 kg from a super brand Althams Butchers. Launches Wednesday night at 9 pm.

Friday – We see the Cozee Home velvet soft jacquard braid filled bedspread, great for keeping warm as winter draws near!

We’ll also preview at 9pm the Amazon Echo Show Generation 5 smart speaker, which comes with the third generation echo, (the little one) plus an Amazon smart plug that Alexa can control. If you haven’t got an Alexa yet this is a great way to get one or rather, two! I have some further annual leave, but will be back on Christmas event day on Sunday 13th October. Oh my goodness, I’m already talking about it halfway through October, nearly. Where has this year gone!

Next week – I will bring you the exciting news from this weekend, I’m going to Wales for my daughter’s daughter’s birthday! Yes, back to the place with a hot tub and the lady from Four in a Bed for an amazing afternoon plus homemade birthday tea for little one-year-old Phoebe. Yes, she is one! Time flying is a theme for this blog isn’t it ha ha. Have a great week.

Best wishes

Debs
