Granddaughter delights! And best night’s sleep!

First, see below for the hit blouse I wore this week that so many people asked about!

And I must just quickly rave about my latest purchase in the bedding department. The Silentnight weighted blanket. I know it sounds a bit weird – a blanket with heavy bits in! But watch this, and hopefully you’ll see why it’s so great and still be able to buy it online here!

I honestly woke up so refreshed and slept soundly. Don’t forget, when we were kids we had blankets, not duvets, and our parents used to come and tuck us in. We were tucked in really tightly, so we felt swaddled. Must have been part of the reason why this feels so good, I’m sure. Well, there is such a thing as a thunder blanket for a dog, isn’t there, and I guess this works along the same lines! The muscles in my body took a sort of deep breath – well, given I have had hardly any hugs over the last three months, as they are now forbidden at work and with family, this is a nice intermediate step!

Blake’s day out
I got the most amazing hugs from my little one in Fulham this week. Had a lovely day with my support bubble, including two-year-old granddaughter Blake. She even cried when I said goodbye! That’s a first 🙂 So we had lots of fun building tents, playing with glitter and doing puzzles. Including this one with cushions from the outdoor chairs – which promptly collapsed! She thought it was hilarious.

Such a lovely day. She is getting so clever now as well. She’s come on leaps and bounds in the last three months since all this craziness began.

Phoebe’s fairy door
Now I can’t wait to see the other one! My lovely little ginger haired Phoebe, aged 20 months, who loves her Amazon Fire Kids tablet, I showed in a photo with Lee Hohbein the other day!

They live on the other side of Wales, so we are awaiting news on allowing people there so I can arrange to go and see them. They have been having lots of fun on the farm however, including creating a little fairy door for a tree trunk with a tiny little bell attached to it.

I said Nick could make a business selling those, I’m sure lots of people would love it! It never opens because the fairy doesn’t come out when people are around – of course! Lovely memories for her for the future, I’m sure. I remember fondly, even now, my mum telling me stories about Tinkerbell the fairy at the bottom of the garden, when I was about three!

Where are ewe?

During my visit to Devon last week I saw this – the residents of Belstone usually know they should keep the gates locked! But mummy sheep seems to be enjoying herself munching away inside somebody’s yard, while her baby lamb waited outside!

Debbie does dinner

This was a lovely one. Featuring some giant, meaty, portobello mushrooms, which were cooked with a delicious sauce, plus grated carrot with lime juice and cashews! Loved it. I may scale back a bit though on the recipe boxes for the weeks to come, to have a little break from doing supper fresh every night!

Jumpsuit boo-boo

Hehe, I got a laugh out of the studio crew last week when I wore this lovely jumpsuit from Kim & Co, except I managed to get two legs down one hole! Well, I guess you could wear it as a dress, there is so much fabric. Seriously, very comfortable and sold really well in the show 🙂 but, well, you have to have a laugh, don’t you? :-). Go here to see Kim’s whole jumpsuit range.

Book of the week
One of my favourite authors, Cathy Bramley, has got a free short story out this week. I will be adding it to my Kindle and asking Alexa to read it to me! Rescue Me is a super short read – just 41 pages long. “When your heart is broken, feeling safe means everything. It’s not a time for risks. But life has a surprise in store for Fearne – a hairy, scruffy, messy one. Soon Fearne finds herself saving the day, and getting rescued right back…”

Top top
Had a lot of compliments and requests for the item number of this blouse this week, one of the most popular by far! (See top picture) It’s a lovely snake print button through blouse from Together. I don’t often wear shirts, so this made a change. I’m in a 14, but if you need extra wiggle room go up a size because it’s not very stretchy. Lovely neckline, great fit, with the usual Together flair and darts ! Grab it here while it’s still in stock.

WatchSingalongadebbie reaches night 90
Yes, on the 23rd June, it’s night 90! So I thought I would just mention that you can catch up on all the old ones if you haven’t seen them yet, as we head towards over 650 songs now! It included a nice Barry Manilow night this week and also this one, which was Doris Day night. I’ve said it before, but I think I must’ve been around in the 40s as I love this sort of music and it really suits my voice, well most of it, ha ha.

  2. Hi Debbie,
I’m so glad you can finally have a hug after 3 months. We all know that feeling! Great idea saving Blake for your support bubble. Hope you get to see the welsh lot soon. You’ve done well seeing your mum and sister too and getting back to Devon. I feel another move coming on?!
Good to see weighted blanket from silent night. In a commercial sense. In the special needs world weighted blankets have been used for a long time to help regulate children and adults with autism. So there’s our comfort factor!
Oh and debs I saw you’d written about shoddy journalism from bbc but honestly I think they report so well. And itv. I just cannot stand pierce Morgan and susanna Reid. Both attention seekers and both constantly sniping. Far too easy to snipe. I’d like to see anyone fix this worldly disaster straight after Brexit nightmare!
    Have a nice weekend!x

  3. Dear Debbie,

Yes, Nick is a creative crafter and the fairy door business would suit his talents well (I love his cakes too)!
Lots of goodies on Q this week! Thanks for the heads up. So tempted to try that weighted blanket! I’m suffering with the absence of hugs too, but did hug my daughter in our bubble the other day. Oh the joy and relief! But she’s gone back now.
It’s been great to listen to and see the #singalongaDebbie! Ninety! Well done – it’s been great fun and a pleasure.
