Happy Christmas from the presenters and a festive sale

Firstly, with the 20th being our final day where we can promise delivery in time for Christmas, check out our sale that kicks in soon after the big day! Go online here to see bargains from homeware to shoes, from clothes to food, from kitchen, DIY, jewellery and more. I will be back on air on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and early on Christmas Eve for the first time in years, (thank you to Craig for swapping with me so I could take my nieces and granddaughter out on Friday, then go and see Cats the movie!) before taking that well-earned break. Looking forward to presenting some of these sale hours but get shopping in the meantime. Enjoy!

Presenters lunch

Oh what fun we had! Dale, Eilidh, (fresh back, taking a break from being with little baby Beau, who is now three-months-old and gorgeous!), Catherine, Alex, Dale, Pipa, Claire, and I at our annual presenters lunch, part one. It took place on Monday and we had great fun having a good chinwag with our colleagues from the office team. The second half was on Thursday with some of the others. Thank you very much to QVC for another great year and another great lunch!

Last Christmas… quizzes!

Keeping with the Christmas theme, since this is my Christmas blog, here is the last of the presenters Christmas videos circulating on social media.

We have had how many Christmas films can you name, how many Christmas songs can you name, and how many reindeer can you name. If you missed them here they are, along with any other messages!

This weekend’s bargains

Today, Friday 20th, while I am out at Santa’s snowflake grotto with the kids (wish me luck!), go here to see and buy the super Lulu Guinness Annie medium tote with pouch. This is the last day for Christmas delivery, so it may well be that you are in time to get yours!

Saturday – already available, the Perricone five-piece Anti-Ageing Skin Renewal collection, one of the best ways to buy our most premium brand of skincare. When you think what some of these cost individually, it’s really worth getting in touch to try them. I will hopefully have it at 11pm on Saturday night for the final airing, the day after our Christmas delivery ends. But you never know 🙂

Sunday – join me Saturday at midnight for the latest big vacuum deal from Shark. The DuoClean upright is back with new technology and a pet tool. Phil Parker is one of our best guests and one of my oldest buddies in shopping telly. He does a brilliant demo and if you need a new vacuum cleaner for that New Year cleaning, don’t miss it! Also watch out for the 10pm Northern Nights year-end sale show with me and Susie Adams on Saturday night. But go here to see some of the deals on offer already on our website.

Snippets

Blooper

Got to kick off with this one, it’s had so many views since Dale did it – his infamous tentacles blooper (you can imagine what he said!) Even Andi Peters shared it! Go here to see it on social media, and share if you can! I did and immediately got a couple of people sending me clips of other funnies, so do check out my Twitter feed – including one by Lorna Ko!

Spot the cat

Oreo is so funny, had a mad half hour again when I returned from Devon on Wednesday night. I thought I would play with him and threw my soggy anorak over him, and all he did was stay there! He loves being in enclosed spaces! Can you spot his tail? It will be interesting to see what happens when the new puppy arrives in January. I can’t wait. My Daisy dog has gone to my friends for Christmas, fortunately she lives nearby, so I may be able to go and see her for some of the time. And thank you to my lovely family for looking after my house when I’m away with your own dog. Enjoy it!

Watch – The Nutcracker, at the cinema

It’s always a joy to spend time with friends isn’t it? I loved going to see this ballet at the local cinema in Okehampton, with my fabulous friend Sheena. She is wonderful and does lots of things to help me, so I love treating her in return. We had a great meal beforehand and put the world to rights. I highly recommend seeing a ballet at the cinema because you can see things so much more clearly, but there’s nothing like being in the audience. We must book something like that for next year, as the energy you get from watching all those dances on the stage is amazing. I far prefer it to opera. I’m sure this will be on again at some stage, and it is very festive with the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy at the finale. However, I could not stop my mind singing “everyone’s a fruit and nut case” from the ad years ago, set to the same tune 🙂

PS – I have also been watching Trollied on Sky. The repeats are so funny, and it’s irreverent, silly, and worth watching on catch up! Plus see Groundhog Day and Trading Places, two of my all time favourites, currently available on the various services. Looking forward to the following over Christmas too: Call the Midwife on Christmas Day, the new three-part BBC adaptation of A Christmas Carol starring Guy Pearce, from Sunday through until Christmas Eve but available on catch up I’m sure. Plus the new Worzel Gummidge on Boxing Day! With Mackenzie Crook from The Office. Looks like a good one!

Fun times with friends

Had a lovely time this week’s going swimming with Jennie my lovely pal (and yoga teacher), where we saw some ducks that were so still, they looked fake! But they were real. It felt really good to swim and give my body a nice stretch. Have not been doing that enough lately!

Then a Christmas lunch with Wendy at the Halfmoon Inn, opposite me in Sheepwash Square, and of course the cinema with Sheena. Plus, of course, it was my sister’s birthday weekend and my lovely son came along, as well as all the family. I also stopped by to see Alix on the way home, and we had a very uplifting meeting discussing politics, the royals, The Crown, and what we may do on New Year’s Eve! I am not working on New Year’s Eve this year and I will be in Devon, so I have a couple of choices. I hope you’re doing something wonderful.

Vlog of the week

My first walk in the country roads around our Devon village for quite a while! And a question about Christmas traditions… click here to watch.

Sheepwash at Xmas

My lovely village of Sheepwash in Devon has a group of knitting ladies who created this fabulous display on the tree in the square this year! The CDs really glint in the Sun! Well done Jan, Anne, Sheila and co, great work 🙂 and something really different!

Spa time!

One last big day out last week was when we went for a birthday treat with my sister Linda to the spa in Brooklands, near Woking. We love the outdoor hot tub but the weather was very chilly! Had a really relaxing time, some treatments and a lovely lunch. That’s the way to live!

Book of the week

Managed to finish ‘The Inheritance of Solomon Farthing’, such a good audiobook, lots of twists and turns, plus flashbacks and time-slip plots. Loved it. This week I would like to recommend one that I have just bought, which is The Strawberry Thief by Joanne Harris. One of my oldest friends Jill, who I went to Iceland with three years ago, regulars may remember, told me recently she has decided what she could get the girl who has everything. First editions that are signed! This book was the first one she bought me, and I’m very impressed. She is one of those friends who always thinks of really good presents. Have you got one of those? What do you do? I have tried to be very innovative this year, so we shall see what she thinks of her presents… 🙂 Anyway, the story is the Sunday Times bestselling novel, from the author of Chocolat. Suffice to say this review pulled me in, written by one of my author friends and a great success herself, Jo Cannon – “The most magical, stunningly beautiful novel… I sobbed at the end because I couldn’t bear to leave. Joanne is truly one of the world’s finest storytellers.” I can’t wait!

My lovely Lauren is down from Wales for a couple of days so I am off on 27th. But Friday’s TSV value is the Clarks Daina Rae knee-high leather boots. Oooo!

Friday at 9pm – the new TSV is from Ruth Langsford, the double V-neck jumper with side slits. It goes on sale a few days early so watch out for it!

Next week – Flashback to festive celebrations, and I look back at some of my highlights from 2019! My goodness this year has gone quickly, don’t you think? I don’t usually have much in next week’s blog about Christmas, so make sure you follow all my social media, listed below , where I will be posting regular updates to let you know what I get up to with the family over yuletide!

In a year that has seen many ups and downs, and has been packed full of eventful weeks, thank you so much if you have been one of my regulars reading this blog. It means a lot to know you’re there, even if you never comment – you are a ‘lurker’, as we say on my “‘Til the fat lady slims” Facebook group!

If you would love to say Happy Christmas here, and come out of lurking, I promise I will read every note, and all you need to do is leave a comment below.

Sincere gratitude and a Happy Christmas from everyone at QVC, from me, and from mine! And Daisy the dog, woof!

Best wishes,

Debbie
