It’s the little things… And sneaky peeks of the week’s deals!

Went back to the hairdressers for the first time in ages and was delighted about not having to wear a mask this week, and they are even serving coffee again! It’s the little things that make us happy, and my goodness, did this make me happy. When you’ve been so used to it whenever you’ve been doing things you’ve done your whole life, and then they’re taken away, sometimes you don’t even realise how much you miss them until they return. And having a lovely cup of coffee makes a massive difference when I’m getting my hair done and I’m sitting there for two hours! What makes you happy now things are getting more back to normal? Kay from Dare in Reigate said she hadn’t seen peoples faces for two years!

All change

It’s all changed at QVC as well because finally they are removing the internal requirements to wear masks and use social distancing et cetera. I, for one, cannot wait! You may expect to see some changes on the screen. Three cheers for normality!

Big Elemis offer

Once again we have a fantastic Elemis offer coming up – here is my unboxing – go here to see and buy it, more below. But basically the brand-new Morning Matrix cream looks fantastic and feels really good, spreads very evenly across the skin. It’s a wonderful bumper bundle to split as a present – sift and gift, as we like to say. Over £200 worth. Don’t miss it!

Richard’s plant food!

And a big wow for Richard Jackson’s new plant food offer, it’s almost like you are getting the Root Booster for free in the new Today’s Special Value this weekend, again also online. Here are some of my plants that I fed Flower Power to, a week beforehand. It really brings out the flowers and buds. Impressive. I will be using it throughout the summer so I’ve bought it on Auto Delivery so I’m never without it. Highly recommended by me and many other expert gardeners and happy vegetable growers!

Family times

Had another lovely Mother’s Day treat when Lauren paid a visit – so gorgeous to be with the little baby. Here she is with her little Jasper on her shoulder and Phoebe looking up at her when they were at home in Wales.

And this is when we all went out for a coffee – just like her cousin Blake, Phoebe also loves a babychino! And I adore my time spent with them. Hope whatever you did, you had a nice time as well, even if you don’t have anyone to celebrate Mother’s Day with, like I don’t when it’s Father’s Day. Thinking of you.

Have dog, will travel

My friends in Devon make me laugh! Love this picture of Jennie the yoga lady, and one of my really good friends, and Gerald her spaniel, who used to be Daisy‘s boyfriend when Jenny looked after my labrador when she used to live with me in Devon! Gerald has a side car, what a great way to get around! Haven’t seen much of my lovely friend the last few times I’ve been in Devon but hopefully will rectify this when I’m down there again next week. I love our adventures but she’s been doing lots of extra hours to save up for a holiday lately.

Assessor

Had the man round to look at the damage to the thatch and they sent me this picture, quite funny how with technology nowadays and a very long pole, they can examine high up and not even have to worry about getting there! Thank goodness Pete Bright the thatcher can fit us in soon and all will be well again! ‘Til then, offcuts of reed (wheat etc) litter the streets of Sheepwash – the joys of living an old place full of such old buildings! Although as I’ve mentioned previously, it does go up for sale next week, hopefully as a going concern so that someone can love it as much as I have, and Deborah and Bob did before me. Sadly Deb also passed away recently as well, and there have been lots of lovely messages about her on our social media, saying she will be sorely missed. It’s quite a leveller, getting older, isn’t it? So all the more reason to make those changes to allow you (and me!) to do the things we really want to do next and not leave it ’til ‘one day’.

Watch – Phantom of the Open at the cinema

Omg, sooooo good. Mark Rylance is one of my favourite actors ever. He just fills the screen and is enchanting. His performance in this is outstanding, as the maverick amateur golfer infiltrating the British Open in the mid to late 1970s. Absolutely hilarious and gripping. Some of the characters are astonishing and it’s all based on a true story. Yes really. Nine out of 10, I will probably see it again.

Podcast

This week on the podcast, Will spoke to QVCUK CEO Korren Fader. Next week, he chats to Michelle Feeney, founder of fragrance brand Floral Street. You can listen to all the podcasts here.

Vlog

This week it actually snowed, real snow flurries coming down from the sky, on Thursday at my place in Surrey! This is what I was doing just beforehand, such a contrast.

Book of the weekShould I Tell You by Jill Mansell

Managed to finish this book completely because I had lots of time on my hands, and really enjoyed it. Jill does some wonderful family dramas, it’s like a soap opera. Always an undercurrent of romance too though. Three fostered youngsters grow up to be life-long friends , but only one of them can win the girl, plus the peripheral characters each with their own drama in a seaside Cornish town… what’s not to like! The narrators accents left a lot to be desired (most of the accents were very similar or one of three different types!) On the whole it wasn’t too off-putting. Loved the main characters. Well done Jill.

  1. Just wanted to thank you for recommending Joy Ellis’s Jackman and Evans books. Took me a while lol but read the first one this week – enthralling from cover to cover.

  2. Looking better Debbie! I am sure however e gets your pad in Devon will get a much loved property. I would get it myself if I had the money! Great to see the new TSV’s. Wales are a bit behind England with relaxing of covid restrictions but the end is in sight! Working in a G O surgery we are getting ready for another round of boosters and will prob have to factor in another booster programme in the autumn to run alongside the flu campaign.

  3. Such a shame about leaving Devon. You worked really hard to get it running. Also you seemed really happy.Certainly braver than me with all the things you get involved in.Still age makes a difference as I am 82.
