My top neck gel – July offer!

I’m absolutely thrilled that for the month of July, Gatineau are bringing us a supersize of my absolutely favourite DefiLift Neck and Decollete Gel. This famous serum is what I have been using most since they first brought it to QVC, not long after we started. Must be pushing two decades now! Here’s my video with a little more detail, and don’t forget to get yours here. Not bad for a neck that is 60 next year!

Took the plunge this week and decided to book myself a little staycation/yoga retreat for a a bit of a break and a great kickstart to a fitness regime for the summer. See below for details, and a super book of the week, one I’ve been waiting for for ages. Plus a really great week ahead on QVC!

Snippets

Raspberries on the balcony

Absolutely delighted that my raspberry bushes from Thompson & Morgan last year are coming along nicely! I think Richard Jackson’s plant food is helping as well. Absolutely delicious. I have a half a dozen gooseberries as well… 🙂 #WorkInProgress

Lunch with my gang

It’s been ages since I caught up with some of my really good friends who I originally met on Facebook and who helped me with Medical Detection Dog events a few years ago. Since I went to Devon, I haven’t really done as much socialising as I would like with my old friends. So we started with a lunch this week at the Ramblers Rest in Banstead. It was really good to have a catch up and put the world to rights with Sara, Jan and Chrissy.

Book club

Shyama and friends had a good chat with me last weekend at the latest book club, with one of my recent favourites – Breaking and Mending by Joanna Cannon. Almost everybody really liked it, and we had a really good conversation about the work of doctors and nurses – and our experiences – into the bargain. Have you read it? What did you think? I felt very chuffed that it went down so well! If you have a slim book (usually 200 to 300 pages, or up to 5 hours if it’s an audiobook) that you think we should read, let me know. 🙂

Watch – In the Heights, cinema

Had a fabulous trip to the Oxted Everyman Cinema, the one where you can have a meal outside first and then get served more food and drink while you sit in your seats until the film begins. I took my nieces Lara and Izzy and we had a lovely time. Lara was being a teenager ha ha.

Glenn and Boki came too. They loved it! From the writer of hit theatre production, Hamilton – and it’s very similar I think (from the clips I’ve seen of Hamilton) with lots of rapping telling the story, some fabulous characters and a really satisfying ending. It’s not really my cup of tea, the rap music, but after I got over myself, I really enjoyed it. There was enough dialogue in between, and good songs to keep me interested! And yes, I would probably see it again at some stage, so I would say 8.5 out of 10.

Podcast

This week, to mark the end of June Beauty Month, Will caught up with OPI guest Daisie Smith. Next week, he’s chatting to Tash Walker, co-chair of Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline. You can listen to them all here.

Vlog

A Sunday morning walk and a question… watch it here.

Book of the week

It’s here, finally! I can’t wait to read it! Dear Mrs Bird author, the talented AJ Pearce, has finally released her follow-up, Yours Cheerfully. Same characters, following on from the last one.

“When the Ministry of Information calls on Britain’s women’s magazines to help recruit desperately needed female workers to the war effort, Emmy is thrilled to be asked to step up and help. But when she and Bunty meet a young woman who shows them the very real challenges that women war workers face, Emmy must tackle a life-changing dilemma between doing her duty, and standing by her friends.”

Delighted to have the hardback as well, it’s a beautiful book. I’ll get her to sign it at some stage for me too. If you read it let me know what you think. 🙂

Going on sale on in the week. I absolutely love my Sealy mattresses, I have bought them for a couple of my beds in Devon and Surrey. I’ve never slept on anything as comfortable as these, and this new one is one of their top of the range. Also on pre-sell is Sunday’s L’Occitane five-piece Shea collection so look out for it.

Next week, I’m off to a five-night Somerset break, a yoga retreat. Regulars will remember I went to a yoga retreat in Amchara in Malta five years ago. Well, it’s by the same people. Really looking forward to getting my body reset and hopefully a bit more healthy going forwards. 🙂 Lots of working out every day. Plus after that, a little trip to Wales to see my lovely Lollipop and her family. Then Devon for a countryside weeding day. I’m off ’til Sunday 18th. Don’t miss me too much! LOL.

Best wishes,

Debs
