Out with Mum, Sis ‘n’ me, plus sneaky peeks galore!

Lots of links to upcoming deals in this blog, including the incredible Elemis bargain this Sunday (14th!)

But first, had a lovely weekend when I came back from my conference last Saturday and the rest of the retreat in Devon, and met up with my siblings and mum for her birthday. I loved this shot as we all look so colourful! We went to a lovely restaurant in Godstone and they did the most amazing Sunday roast, but I was hungry, I must admit. We had a really good catch-up, my three brothers, my sister and my lovely mum. We took a picture of my dad as we always do, as he is the missing one from the line up, having left us when he was 52, around 29 years ago on 7th. Also spent some time this week scanning in some pictures for Mum so she can make a couple of copies and canvases. (See below) Nice times. Happy belated birthday Mummy!

Brunch with baby Kaleb and Kari

Went on my first shopping expedition with gorgeous little grandson Kaleb, now 10 weeks, and daughter-in-law, to buy her a present for her birthday (happy birthday for Sunday, Kari!). We had a lovely stroll up Kings Road in the drizzle, and nipped inside department stores to buy children’s clothes and a few presents. Really, really had a nice time. Stopped to have a very healthy lunch as well. One of the highlights was going on a bus there and back from their home in Fulham! And a lady called Brenda from Purley stopped to say hello in the Lego department! How nice!

Conference and conundrums

It’s been a heck of a week as you can imagine (my MP is Geoffrey Cox). But prior to that, on Saturday, we had a great get-together with some of the girls in the South West at the CWO Conference 2020 and had some really interesting conversations, including about some harrowing topics from the Police and Crime Commissioner – yes, my good friend Alison Hernandez – and lots of lovely catch ups with some wonderful like-minded people. I also stayed in a little bed and breakfast nearby and really enjoyed my first full English for absolutely ages! Had worked really hard at the retreat all week so it was nice to have a little treat. I was very pleased to get back to my own bed on Saturday night though!

Flashback Friday

Here is my late dad, and all of us when we were kids in the 70s. Check out those 70s PippaDee fashions! We had such great times as kids. 🙂

Watch – Parallel, a film, Amazon Prime

Never a better time to buy one of our Amazon Echo Show devices because you can watch Amazon Prime on it! (Amongst other places). Lots of lovely films there, and one called Parallel caught my eye, so I watched it the other day.  A group of twenty-somethings trying to break into the technology world find an enchanted mirror in an attic, which takes them through to a version of their life running parallel but with slight differences, and they intermingle the two with terrifying consequences! A bit of a horror film in the end, but quite amusing.

I also went to see a brilliant film at the cinema. Last Night in Soho – as mentioned previously, and it was amazing. Anya, the star of Queens Gambit and Emma, excelled once more. And a supernatural timeslip dreamworld takes our heroine between the 60s and now – she is a young fashion student, in a world of sleaze and corruption, glamour and fashion, with a surprising ending. Loved this one, too – eight out of ten. Next, look out for The French Dispatch, if I get to see it before it ends on the big screen!

P.S. never bother to watch Cloud Atlas, the movie, though. It had such promise including several big names but such a weird, disparate, clunky, inconsequential film, and some terrible prosthetics as the main actors play multiple characters interconnecting (or not) across many time zones. Five out of 10.

Blooper

Had such fun with the Skechers launch, this week, when Clare the guest and I imitated art… kind of…!

Book – The Judges List by John Grisham

Oh my goodness, I have loved this book. Took a little while to warm up but once it got going it was incredible. Definitely needs to be a film! Grisham at his best, back on fine form. Highly recommended. Heroine spends 20 years stalking a serial killer who is also a renowned judge… Twists and turns and some nail-biting moments. Loved it!
