Christmas in July!

Happy Christmas! Huh? I hear you. All is well and you read correctly. For those of you who don’t know, at QVC we celebrate Christmas in July, as well as the real one when Santa comes down the chimney on December 24th!

We believe that there is no time like the present (get it?) to start bringing in the Christmas cheer, beating the rush and picking up a great deal. If you’ve never joined us in July, then how about doing it this year? Our very own QVC elves work extremely hard to bring out the trees and decorate them beautifully. It’s really exciting to see how many wonderful home decorations we have and hopefully we can inspire you with our range too.

We’ll be showing you some of your favourite brands such as Homeworx by Harry Slatkin, with fabulous candle scents to set the mood of a room – I love Crackling Fire but they have so many more to choose from. There’s Hotel Chocolat too – remember that Velvetiser, and how a simple hot chocolate can be transformed into the most decedent, luxurious, creamy, warming winter treat? Look out for the special colour ways coming just for QVC. Wilfred’s Pies and luxury mince pies are a must-have when inviting guests and family over (saves time in the kitchen too!) and how about finishing off the evening dining with some delicious Godminster Cheese from Somerset. I think they add a really nice touch at the end of a meal, perhaps with a little glass of something special.

When it comes to lighting in the winter months I am a real magpie and love all things that sparkle, shine and glow, so I am rather excited to be able to give you a little heads up on a new Today’s Special Value from Luxform on July 23rd. They have designed a stunning 3D Effect LED Rotating 60cm Pyramid (look out for item number 813022). It comes in four colours; Warm White Star effect, Warm White Firefly effect, Multi Colour Star effect and Multi Colour Firefly effect. It also comes with a battery operated remote control (so no trailing wires ) and timer setting for four or six hours. Its suitable for both indoors and outdoors.

This is all about creating your own special haven with this projecting pyramid. Its has a combination of rotating LED lights and a special inner design that will create an amazing 3D effect to your home. I love the fact that you can choose between the rotating function or static. The Pyramid is ideal for all year round, whether you are enjoying the last warmth of a summer evening whilst sitting outside or cosied up inside, watching the colours of the pyramid from within your home or maybe outside in the garden.

Christmas time is always a big deal in our house and this year it will be even more so as we await the arrival of our new baby! Due the first week of December. Every year in October, we make our Christmas cakes as extra little gifts for our family and friends, with all the: boys Elliot, Joel (eldest son), Errol, Beau (currently the youngest), Adele, Joel’s girlfriend and Grandma Seaside (Elliot’s mum).

In more recent years, we started to make our own Christmas cards too with a photo of us all – the sillier the photo, the better. We couldn’t do one last year, but here is a pic of the year before. It was great fun. We completely recreated a Christmas Eve scene (in October) using an old dismantled fireplace that we dragged into our kitchen and decorated. Joel had broken his ankle that morning by dropping a radiator on it (not so funny) and Beau hadn’t a clue what was happening, as he was only a month or so old.

This is one of my favourites and hangs in our kitchen. Next year we’ll need a new hat… what name will we have I wonder…?

If you’re wondering what little foodie gifts you could give people, how about some wonderful Lambertz German gingerbread in gift bags. These are my favourite ginger bread biscuits ever! Or an advent calendar from Freixenet or The Original Cake Company.

To help you with your shopping, we are also offering a code that you apply at checkout if you’d like to split your purchase into interest-free Easy Pay instalments. ALL3Z runs from July 22nd at 9pm until 23rd at 23.59.

I hope you have fun with us this Christmas in July and look forward to having your company. I will have shows at 9pm on 23rd and midnight 24th July. I will be launching the Kitchenaid Mini Chopper, so for those who’d like to whip up their own sauces, hummus and dips for the summer, this will make those jobs so much quicker and easier. (Look out for item number 809584.)

See you then.

Love,

Eilidh
