Hello,
Well, there’s definitely a feeling of autumn in the air now, isn’t there? I do love this time of year though, even if it does mean spending less time outdoors. I don’t tend to watch that much TV during the summer months, and will probably watch a lot more over the autumn and winter – one series I’m really looking forward to seeing return, is the BBC comedy This Country. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a “mockumentary” set in a Gloucestershire village which documents the lives of the young people who live there, and is absolutely hilarious; series three is currently being filmed and the show has already won several BAFTAs.
There’s also a brilliant fan podcast which supports it and I was delighted to be asked to go along and record an episode as a “superfan”. It was great fun chatting to the hosts Pavo and Neil (see photo above!) – if you like the series and enjoy podcasts, have a look for the This Country podcast. (Warning! Both the comedy series and the podcast contain some choice language so maybe not for the easily offended).
A new season also means, of course, new fashion – hurray! So I thought I’d share a few of my autumn fashion picks from QVC with you. I’ve already bought this gloriously colourful Rino & Pelle faux fur jacket. It’s too warm to wear now, but I can’t wait for those colder days so I can snuggle up in it.
And I’ve also just ordered two pieces from my fashion buddy Ruth Langsford’s new autumn/winter collection: the sequin T-shirt and the fabulous sequin pencil skirt, both of which are just perfect for the party season. In fact I couldn’t wait to wear the T-shirt (I’m so impatient) so popped it on for some Christmas decor shows at QVC this week. Gorgeous!
Finally, if you want to hold on to summer a bit longer, have a look at the great Today’s Special Value offer from Peony on Monday 30th. The brand is known for its superb faux flowers, recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society, and will be offering a fabulous floral arrangement with greenery in a glass decanter vase.
There’s a choice of Delphinium, Lily, Peony or Gladioli, and the stems aren’t fixed so you can mix these with real flowers or split the arrangement up if you want to. I took the Delphinium option home to try and thought it looked wonderful on my dining table (above left); a real showstopper and a perfect centrepiece.
Speak soon!

Hello Jackie
Just listened to the video for Home Reflections’ Larry the Llama (709811) – he looks more like an Alan the Alpaca to me…!
Llamas have long ears, long faces and ‘bare’ legs…
Alpacas have short ears, short fluffy faces and fluffy legs…
Who knew! Not me either, until my son went to Machu Picchu in Peru where they have both so I looked it up…
Compare the two – what do you think? 😃
Marilyn, I think you may be absolutely right! How funny! He’s gorgeous either way but I shall pass it on!

Hi Jackie – loved watching you & Ruth Langsford on her fashion show last night! Katherine – my fave model – looked sooo good in the Helene Berman checked coat,I just HAD to order it! Can’t wait for it to arrive! Thought you both might like to know that the checked pattern of the cloth is actually called Prince of Wales red overcheck. Enjoy your weekend – cheers!
Oh thank you Sue, good to know! And I hope you love the coat when it arrives.
