Joy in the veg patch and flamingoes in the bedroom

Hi,

Hope everyone is well. Exciting times for the Kabler household – there are signs of growth in our new veg beds! Early in lockdown we built some raised beds at the bottom of the garden; I’m a keen gardener but I’ve never grown vegetables before, and we actually planted everything quite late in the season so I wasn’t sure we’d get much of a result this year.

However, to my great joy, we now have garlic and tiny lettuces making an appearance, as well as a flourishing gooseberry bush. The raspberries aren’t doing too well (I don’t think they’re getting enough sun) but I’ve added a redcurrant bush now because apparently they don’t mind a bit of shade. It’s all very exciting… I can’t wait to eat some of our own home-grown produce!

Now I don’t know about you but I haven’t been buying many clothes recently – nowhere to wear them! However with the lockdown situation hopefully slowly easing I decided it was time to refresh my summer wardrobe a little over the past couple of weeks, and I ordered a few bits and pieces. I also sorted out my nightwear drawer, and decided I was badly in need of some new summer PJs. So I ordered this fab pair from Cyberjammies. I just LOVE the flamingo print (our spare bedroom has a flamingo print wallpaper too). I’m tempted by several other pairs in the range as well…And staying with fashion, we have a big fashion event coming up this weekend on QVC, so you too may be tempted to treat yourself to a few new pieces. If you’re a Kipling fan don’t miss the Today’s Special Value offer on Friday – the Anzo premium triple compartment multi-way bag, which was created just for us at QVC.There’s a choice of six colours (four Snake prints – Khaki, Coral, Grey and Amber – plus Ripstop Shell and Ripstop Azure) and the bag can be worn over the arm, shoulder or crossbody. Then Saturday sees the Today’s Special Value offer from WynneLayers, a lovely crepe dolman tunic shirt dress. You can wear this as a tunic over leggings or as a dress, so it’s very versatile, and there’s a choice of five colours: Storm Blue, Sage, Black, Cloud and Geranium.

By the way, June is also Beauty Month at QVC with loads of fantastic offers. You‘ll find three interest-free instalments on everything from Ultrasun (use the code ULTRA3) and Elemis (ELEM3Z) all month for a start. Do have a look at the beauty section online and see what else is on offer, as it’s a great time to stock up on your beauty must-haves.

Right… I’m off to weed my veg patch!

Lots of love,

Jackie x

  1. Hi Jackie, just a quick word re your book. After hearing Ruth Langsford say how good it was last night on her fashion edit, I downloaded a copy of The Perfect Couple. Oh my word I’ve just finished it( took me less than 24 hrs). It’s so good, I couldn’t put it down. Congratulations can’t wait for the sequel.

  2. Hi Jackie Everyone must be thinking the same thing during lockdown. I have a small patch in the garden where I grow rhubarb and potatoes .Looking forward to the potatoes in about four weeks. The rhubarb has been there a while and last week I thought I would make a crumble.Disaster I was straining it and dropped the colander spilling half the rhubarb into the sink!! I put the rest into a smaller dish and sprinkled a packet of crumble over it. The colour seemed a bit strange but I shoved it in the oven getting fed up with it by this stage. When I got it out. It was a mess .What I thought was crumble was dumpling mix the lot went in the bin.You see Jackie you ‘re not the only one prefers not to cook .xxx

    1. Oh Betty that did make me laugh! So glad it’s not just me. I do love rhubarb though so hopefully you’ll have more success next time! I can’t wait to eat some of our veg patch offerings…I will keep you posted!
