Running and remembering

Hi,

I ran a half-marathon at the weekend, my first “official” run in many months, hurray! Except of course that due to lockdown in England the actual race had to be cancelled. However, as many race organisers are doing these days, the fabulous people behind the annual Remembrance Day Run decided it had to go ahead in some way, and offered us the option to run it alone as a virtual run. They even put the medals in the post early so they arrived before Remembrance Sunday (pictured below). Hence, on Sunday morning I was one of many runners around the country heading out for a solo half-marathon, with a pause at 11am for the two-minute silence. I did this run last year too as the final run in my 1,000 mile charity challenge, and it was of course very different this year, but I was so grateful to be able to do it at all. Hopefully next year we might be able to run it together, and not apart; that sentiment applies to so many things at the moment, doesn’t it?

Now I suppose the biggest thing there is to look forward to is Christmas, in whatever form it may take this year. We have a big Christmas shopping event at QVC on the weekend of 21/22 November so make a note – there‘ll be some great gift ideas! Black Friday is also coming up later this month but QVC is starting offers early and you can already browse some of them on the website. There’s a great supersize hand cream offer from Gatineau, for example, and a lovely Carole Hochman robe which might make a nice present for someone.

There are also two Today’s Special Value offers in the next week which might make good gifts. I’m planning on getting next Tuesday 17th’s for one of my sisters – it’s the Hollywood Smoother Sonic Dermaplaning tool. I got one of these when it first launched a while back, and it’s amazing for both facial hair removal and exfoliation. This offer includes a great 5X magnifying mirror and four additional replacement heads for the tool. Dermaplaning basically removes all the dead skin cells, built-up debris and hair from the surface of the skin, and leaves your face looking smooth and glowing – I love it! There‘ll be a choice of White or Rose Gold – this is the lovely Rose Gold option.

And tech lovers might fancy this Sunday’s offer from Datalogixx. It’s a back-up storage expansion device for phones, tablets and PCs, available in four colours (Gold, Silver, Black or White) and two sizes, 128GB or 256GB. This is compatible with Apple iPhones and iPads, Windows PCs and Apple computers and most Android devices (2014 on) but full details will be available when it launches (it won’t work with prepaid or pay-as-you go phones, or employer-provided phones). When you connect it to your device it makes it easy to transfer photos, videos and other files to other devices and to friends and family, but also gives you loads of extra storage if yours is filling up. It’s password protected for extra security and is really easy to use via a downloaded app.

Thank you as always for joining us at QVC during these strange times.

Love to you,

Jackie x

  1. Hi Jackie,

Congratulations on your half marathon, what a beautiful medal. The Royal British Legion is a charity that I wholeheartedly support and buy many items from them throughout the year but always make sure I get a new poppy brooch before Remembrance Day.

We live in strange times but if everyone carried out one act of kindness toward another or others (such as a half marathon for charity), we would come out the other side of this pandemic a little better for it.

Best wishes and here’s to a much improved 2021!
