So much to celebrate!

Hello,

I’ve been doing a lot of celebrating since my last blog: a family wedding, a birthday and a big anniversary! And all in the same week – phew! First we flew to Dublin for my niece Corinne’s wedding. She’s my late sister Deborah’s oldest daughter and oh, how very, very sad it was that Deborah could not be there but how very, very proud she would have been of all three of her beautiful daughters that day.

Corinne met her husband Ronnie when they were both working for a charity in Guatemala and the wedding was the most magical Irish/Guatemalan/Spanish/American mix. There were many tears and much laughter on just the most wonderful day, and I’ve been given permission by the bride to share a couple of photos with you. The above photo is just so beautiful: Ronnie and Corinne with their Guatemalan “parents”, a couple who became so special to them when they were working over there and who left the country for the very first time in their lives to fly to Ireland for the wedding. Below is Corinne with her two sisters Ellen and Holly; I love them all so very much! And there’s me and hubby JJ too, having a lovely time!

We stayed on in Ireland after the wedding to celebrate first JJ’s  birthday and then a couple of days later (eek!) our silver wedding anniversary. Twenty-five years of marriage – how did that happen? We’ve actually been together twenty-eight years, so more than half my life. The man deserves a medal, putting up with me for that long, eh? Here are two photos, from then and now, a quarter of a century on…I feel so lucky to have shared so many years with my lovely husband.

We headed off to the west of Ireland countryside (where I lived for nine years growing up) for three glorious days; we walked in the woods and along the river, took a boat trip on Lough Corrib and just generally chilled out. We hadn’t been away together since our trip to the Lake District in May so it’s been a long working summer, and it was lovely to just chill out.

By the way, if you’re celebrating a similar occasion and want something to remember it by, the September Diamonique Design of the Month might work very well. It’s a very lovely pendant with a combined heart and angel wings design so rather special.
