Delving into Diamonique

Hello, I hope you’re well and having a good week.

I’m having a day of not doing much today, which I feel are really needed sometimes. It’s tricky not to feel like you should be doing some cleaning/washing/e-mails but I think it’s really important to just switch off and watch telly and cuddle the dog for a day!

I hope you all had a lovely long weekend for the August Bank Holiday if you weren’t working (or even if you were). We had our annual family BBQ for my Mum’s side of the family, which was good fun. My parents hosted it this year so I was under orders to provide puddings and be a general dogsbody! I made two huge pavlovas, two chocolate roulades and a birthday cake because it was Mum’s birthday that day too! Didn’t manage to take a photo of the cake before my family tucked in but you can see sort of what it looked like here. I went for a kind of Eton mess vibe with raspberries and meringues on top but the icing is a mascarpone mix, as my Mum doesn’t like things that are too sweet. There were lots of kids and dogs running around and plenty of food and drink so it was a pretty good do overall. Here’s a photo of us all at the end of the garden – we even managed to get the dogs to sit still for it too, well, sort of!

Monty loved running round with the children as he doesn’t meet many. He was surprisingly good with them and was so worn out he slept most of the next day! He also discovered a football that someone had brought with them. He’s never seen one before and it was so funny watching him chase it round the garden. I think I will have to get him one.

This Sunday just gone was fun too because I got to go on-air at QVC with one of my best friends. Hannah Clemmow is a new jewellery guest with us at QVC and if you see her on air and think you recognise her it may well be because you follow me on social media and have seen her crop up or perhaps you read my wedding blog because she was one of my bridesmaids. She’s changed her hair since then but here she is with Lawrence and the other bridesmaids on the big day (she’s on the right). I love this photo so much!

I am so happy she is coming on board as a jewellery expert because she sure knows her stuff! If you ever have questions about lapidary (how gems are cut) in particular, then make sure you watch her shows as she is a fountain of knowledge. She has even recently designed her own fancy cut! I hope you can catch her on a show and I very much hope I get to do another with her soon too, although it’s hard not to get the giggles as we make each other laugh so easily!

Now, seeing as we are on the subject of jewellery, I want to talk about Diamonique. Obviously, as most of you know, this is a well-loved range at QVC of lab-grown simulated diamonds. As someone with qualifications in jewellery I can be skeptical of synthetics but I have to say that I have been more and more impressed with Diamonique as my time at QVC has progressed. I love that the jewellery is properly made out of sterling silver or gold to a high enough quality that will stand everyday wear. There are fabulous big statement pieces and also delicate pieces that are really believable if you want people to think you are wearing the real thing.

So it is with great excitement that I say tomorrow, Thursday 5th September, is Diamonique day! I am really looking forward to the day and will be presenting a couple of shows but also taking over QVC’s Instagram stories so keep an eye out for those too! The Today’s Special Value for the day will be a beautiful radiant and round-cut friendship style bracelet. It will be available in the three precious metal finishes and also comes with a travel jewellery box, which will be so useful if you go on holiday or for a weekend away and, like me, you HAVE to take some jewellery options with you.

I’ve been wearing the bracelet for a few days and it is really lovely. The way the light plays in the radiant-cut stones is beautiful and, it has to be said, this is normally a very expensive way to cut stones so it automatically looks pretty exclusive.

The Friendship bracelet style with a slider means it is easy to adjust and to get it on/off if you have no one to help you. Also great if you are someone who shares a collection maybe with your mother or daughter because it can change to fit you both. If you are lucky enough to get one of these I think you’ll find yourself wearing it all the time and the travel box is like a little bonus! Actually, if you already have one you like using, then that box is nice enough as a gift all on its own.

I wanted to share a couple of other Diamonique pieces with you as well because they don’t just bring us simulated diamonds but coloured simulated gemstones too. Here’s a little collection of our simulated blue sapphires that I have been enjoying wearing this past week. We have simulated sapphires in many colours, simulated emeralds and even opals which are so hard to simulate convincingly but ours look like real quality Ethiopian opals.

Even if you are reading this and it is past the date of Diamonique day itself then please do still check the web because the event prices for a lot of items are going on for another five days. I was having a browse and found these super cute T-Rex earrings! How much fun are they? Love them!

Another piece I own and love is this bracelet, which I bought and wore for my wedding. I love how delicate it is with the marquise cuts and it really sparkled on the day.

I have also just bought this necklace from Diamonique’s Adorn collection because it was in the show I presented with Hannah and, after wearing it for a few hours I fell in love and didn’t want to let it go. So it is winging its way to me as I speak, or rather, type.

Let me know if you’re a jewellery fan as much as I am and if you have favourite pieces of Diamonique in your own collection at home. I hope you manage to add something new to your collection over the event too – I am really excited about it!

See you back here in a couple of weeks and, in the meantime, you can follow me on social media if you like:

  1. I love all your shows and you are so enthusiastic about all you present. I also like reading about your dog, I don’t have a dog at the moment I lost my dog a few years ago now but I still miss him and sometimes I think I still hear him(silly I know). Kathryn I have to ask you about a nail varnish you wore on one of your Diamonique shows which you were asked about on the show and you said you would get back to the person with the colour, could you also tell me?

    Keep up the good work.

  2. Hi I ended up buying both the gold and the silver adorn necklaces intending in sending one back but kept both as couldn’t decide just ordered the pariba stud earrings as they had sold out but must have been sent back had on my wish list so was eagerly watching for them to come back in stock love your shows as I have the same hair colour as you and it’s good to see what suits though mine is a little darker than yours more auburn as my mum use to call it

  3. Can you confirm where Hannah Clemmow purchased her blouse on last night’s diamonique show airing 11pm – 12 am
    on Sunday 29.03.20

  4. As one of the original QVC hosts, with the help of my wife Fern (QVC CSR, Programming Dept.), I had the joy of creating “Tales of Diamonique”. Wonder if you remember: Camera comes in for a close up…It’s time now for…Tales of Diamonique…soap opera music plays…camera pulls out…And I read actual letters from fan/viewers who have purchased and enjoyed their Diamonique. It was a blast!! Does anyone remember when Johnny Carson did the spoof of Diamonique on his show? I’ve been trying to find it. I still have the original book of “Tales…”. (In fact, I also have the original book of “Venice Dreams”…the book of Yves Rocher we also created.) Love to get the facts if you know them. P.S. My wife wore something of Diamonique almost every day.
