A health update and a Joules TSV

Hello again.

Last time I wrote to you I was feeling unwell and waiting for the results of a Covid 19 test.

Well, it was positive, as was that of my husband Olley. We’ve both had a bit of a torrid time, which I won’t go into in detail, but suffice to say it’s certainly worth staying at home and avoiding catching this virus if you possibly can. Roll on everyone having the vaccine and being safe.

I’m still signed off work by my doctor, but I just wanted to pop in here to let you know about a couple of fashion deals we have for you this week.

The Today’s Special Value on Tuesday is a tried, tested and loved washable, breathable and waterproof jacket from one of my favourite British brands, Joules (the product number is 180432).

We featured this jacket as a TSV last year and it was hugely popular. This year it returns in three new classic colours: navy, red and black.

The Coast jacket is a signature style for Joules and the mid length offers great appeal as it’s easy to wear and move around in. We will have it in sizes 8 – 20 and it’s a regular fit. I’m size 12 but I prefer this jacket in size 14 as it allows me to comfortably wear a big, bulky, cosy jumper underneath so I can wear the jacket when it’s cold as well as wet outside.

Established in Britain over 25 years ago and crafted with true British style and eccentricity, Joules designs are upbeat, practical and colourful clothing. Founder Tom Joule was selling clothes at outdoor events and decided to see whether people would buy more colourful clothing – a batch of pink wellies sold out quickly and Joules was born.

Some of the designs from Joules are wonderfully quirky and eccentric but this jacket is more of a classic piece with the usual attention to detail in the finishing. The stripy lining adds a Joules touch of fun. It’s also functional and practical – made of treated cotton to give a water-resistant finish with a cotton rich lining that’s breathable and washable. (But don’t put in the tumble dryer.)

The Right as Rain range from Joules is perfect to help us cope with whatever the British weather throws at us. I’m writing this in our conservatory and the rain is drumming on the roof – it’s chucking it down!!

If you like to get out whatever the weather (it can really help with improving a low mood and so many of us need as much help as we can get at the moment) or perhaps you have a dog who won’t stopping nudging you until you’ve been out for their walk then take a look at this jacket, which will launch at 9pm on Monday and will feature throughout the day on Tuesday.

In these photos I’m also wearing the Joules girlfriend jeans and the Joules green polo top.

In the other outfit, the jumper is also from Joules. I just love the bobble sleeves and the soft orange colour, which I think goes well with the safari taupe option of our Women with Control Big Deal this week (regular; petite).

These easy-to-wear pull-on trousers from Women with Control are made from 86% natural cotton and 14% elastane for stretch and hold, plus a tummy control panel to help give a smooth-looking silhouette.

This style of trouser has been a Women with Control favourite for years, and I wear mine regularly because they’re so comfortable and they look fantastic for the amazing price of £23.98. The small slit detail at the ankle makes them a slightly smarter casual trouser, and they come in five colours: black, marine navy, white, smoke and the safari taupe, which I’m wearing.

Given the great value, you might be tempted to try more than one. The two lengths, petite and regular at 26″and 29″ inseam measurement, will suit longer and shorter legs, or give you the option of the cropped look.

The trousers will be one of our Big Deal all week (if our stocks last) so catch them on air in our fashion shows or on the QVC Style channel, or find them on our website. Just don’t miss them!

I hope to be back on air before long. I’ll be with you just as soon as I’m able to shake off the lasting effects of this awful virus, mainly coughing, exhaustion and a brain that really doesn’t want to focus at the moment.

In the meantime, do take care and look after yourself.

Best wishes,

  1. What a torrid time you and Ollie are having but stay positive and hopefully I’ll see you back on screen very soon doing you regular fashion show. Please say Hi’ to Glenn as well and he’s looking very dishy in his promotion for John Lewis, wow!

  2. I hope you’re both feeling better now, Kathy – but don’t rush it. Having had the virus before and over Christmas, I can only echo what you’ve said … it’s not something to be taken lightly and takes several weeks to really recover from. Missing you on screen, always enjoy your shows. Take care, keep warm and look forward to seeing you back soon.

  3. Hi Kathy

So sorry to hear you have been unwell with covid ..I do hope your on the mend now I assumed as I had not seen you for a while you were isolating. On a brighter note.it’s the 1at February and spring is round the corner. Hope to seen you back in the studio soon. Take care .

  4. Oh Kathy I am so glad you are on the mend, was starting to get quite worried about you!! Yes this virus is definitely something to be avoided, my daughter who’s a safeguarding officer in a primary school has had it. Luckily she wasn’t very ill but she’s still complaining of feeling tired. Once again I am glad that you and your husband are recovering and hope to see you at Qvc soon, but no pressure you must look after yourself. Take care, love Debbie Xx

  5. Dear Kathy,

I’m so sorry to hear that you and your husband tested positive for Covid19. Had you already tested positive when you did the photo shoot or were you incubating? I notice how well you looked so I wasn’t sure if you’d already come down with the virus. You weren’t wearing a mask in any of the photos so it’s hard to say. I do hope you are having a rest and taking it easy and QVC is supporting you in this. I have to admit it is somewhat disconcerting seeing you in a photo shoot and hearing you’ve tested positive for Covid19. You really should be taking care and resting. Your article is remarkably focused in spite of your saying that your brain doesn’t want to focus at the moment. Please take it easy and give yourself every possible chance to fight this virus. I wish you both a speedy recovery.

Your viewers and fans won’t be going anywhere!

    Best wishes,

  6. Sorry to hear you’ve been struck down with the virus Kathy I do hope you and Olley will be feeling better soon. I love the boots you are wearing in the top photo on this blog. Would it be possible to put a link on for them please I’m presuming they are QVC? I really need something like this for my walks as trainers don’t suffice.
    Take care

  7. Hi Kathy
Sorry to hear that both of you have been so ill. So far I have been lucky and stayed Covid free at the moment. Had my first Vaccine jab on the 17th January now waiting for the second one. Something that quite a few people are saying is that there brain is muddled, I know that mine is, it’s not great at the best of times, I call it my Covid brain. Will be so pleased to see you back on the Morning style, it’s not the same without you. I do hope all your family are all ok. Hope you and Ollie are better soon. Take care x

  8. Dear Kathy

Sorry to hear you have both been unwell with Covid 19. Glad to hear your on the road to recovery I have been missing you on QVC. Looking forward to seeing you back at QVC when you fully recovered. Take care

  9. Hi Cathy
Sorry to hear about your illness. I totally agree that people should stay at home and follow the regulations. I had Covid 19 at start of October which was a real shock as I live alone and apart from daily dog walks and one visit a week to the supermarket that was it. I can only have caught it at the supermarket (so the lady from Track and Trace said). I was relatively lucky with my symptoms however 2 months later developed polymyalgia which my GP is sure is post Covid as I’m too young for it. So steroids doing the trick but they are horrible things and trying to come off them is difficult. Now starting on Biphosphonates to try and prevent osteoporosis. So….. hope you continue to recover and do not rush back to work. xx

  10. Sorry to here you have had the awful Covid-19,glad you are both on the mend,it’ leaves you quite weak for a while so don’t hurry to get on as normal, take it slowly and lots of rest.

  12. It’s amazing how qvc presenters have in a way become extended family in these strange times, I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking this. However, it’s so nice to see your ever smiling face and to know that you are on the mend, you have been very much missed, hopefully it will not be too long before you are back on screen once more with your fashion advice.
