Christmas and New Year fashion special

Hi there, how are you? I hope you are doing OK and not getting too stressed about this time of year. There’s been a lot going on and a lot to get our heads around this week but let’s hope that we can all now concentrate on what really matters in our worlds. For me it’s family and friends and getting to really enjoy some time together over the festive season.

I’m planning our Christmas meal and making final lists for presents and cards, which every time I think I’m on top of it seems to grow! I will also be doing a clear out of old toys that the kids don’t play with anymore, with their help and understanding of why, and donate them to the charity shops and I will also be making sure to do a food bank donation too. It’s the spirit of Christmas but also something that I feel passionately about all year round.

The weather has been biblical down here on the south coast so not much opportunity to get out, but when it clears we do our usual and dash out for a medicinal blast of fresh air down at the beach. The kids always moan and want to stay in and cosy up to watch TV so we often have to convince them, but once they are outside they are full of beans.

I have mentioned previously that Tilda is obsessed with gymnastics at the moment so all she wants to do is cartwheels and jumps and flips whenever she can. I am constantly saying ‘NO CARTWHEELS IN THE HOUSE’!! Thank goodness for the wide, open spaces of the beach. Screen time is something all parents are battling as it’s such a big part of their world, something that we didn’t have to worry about growing up, but I think we manage to get a good balance of making sure they use their imaginations and get running around!

What I’ve been wearing – party outfits!!!

I’ve had a bit of fun this week and played dress up!! There are so many amazing dresses and party pieces at QVC at the moment so this week I have decided to do a bit of a run-down on some of my favourites. I may even do another one next week as there were too many things to choose from. We currently have a fab offer on all full-price fashion and shoes which is to use the code FASH20 to get an extra 20% off when paying all in one go (can’t do Easy Payments as well). If it’s on Clearance then use the offer code SALE15 to get an extra 15% off Clearance items! There will be a time frame on this so bear in mind if you are reading this next week it may not be valid any more.

So here we go – I am wearing size 12 or Medium for all items…

Monsoon – I’ve chosen two pieces from Monsoon and I could have chosen even more!! Yes, I know I have chosen a lot of black and velvet but I couldn’t help myself I liked them too much.

Kimberley Velvet Jumpsuit – oh my goodness I don’t think I could love a jumpsuit more. Stretch velvet that is incredibly comfortable and also, I think, super stylish. I am often drawn to the vintage style shoulders like this and I just adore the gold piping trim there and on the belt.

It has a lovely peep hole down the back of the neck and I found it very easy to get in and out of. It’s got cropped slim leg trousers so you can show off your shoes and I could hit the dance floor in this or run around with the kids. It’s a contender for Christmas Day and the best thing is it’s on Clearance price!!

Kourtney Gold Spot Midi Dress – I fell for this dress the moment I saw it. Again black stretchy velvet but his time with an 80s vibe. Gold polka dots all over with an amazing gathering at the waste to hide any lumps on the tum and then a very cool split tulip hemline which I think is giving some serious Dynasty vibes. It’s very glamorous and I may save this for my 40th Birthday Party in March.

Quacker Factory and Ruth Langsford

I’m going to be honest here, Quacker Factory isn’t my usual go-to but at Christmas time they really do bring out the fun in us all. So this reversible sequin Christmas Tree Top is the perfect wardrobe addition for festive drinks out with friends or round at the neighbour’s house for a mince pie and glass of fizz. My kids both love reversible sequin tops so they are going to love that I now have one too.

I paired it with the fabulous Ruth Langsford sequin skirt which is completely genius. It’s again stretchy even though it is completely covered in sequins and just slips on like a dream and is the perfect pencil skirt length. It’s a fun party piece that I know will get so much wear out of over the years so I think this is a great investment piece. It will work with so many colours on top and I would go for a cool rock band T-shirt with this for a night out somewhere fun but then add a cream silk blouse for a nice dinner somewhere a bit fancy! Make sure to use FASH20 on both of these.

Ronni NicoleMetallic Faux Wrap Maxi Dress

I thought I better add something long into the mix for those who like a maxi dress. It’s also nice to be able to get sparkly with gold. It has flattering 3/4 length sleeves and a faux wrap which helps synch me in at my most narrow point on the waist. It will also work for small and larger busts. It’s not a full maxi on me so this will of course vary from person to person but I like this is a little more of a midi on me which is very current. It means that your shoes get to have a moment too. This is a bargain at the moment on Clearance so don’t forget to use SALE15.

Coco BiancoLong Sleeve Velvet Dress with Asymmetric Hem

Another glamorous dress with added sparkle. This one is screaming New Year’s Eve to me, the rhinestone detail means less need for added jewellery as it’s already built in. Yes, it’s black velvet again, I promise to bring you something different next week! It’s elegant and sophisticated and not too short (for me anyway). It’s got a very nice cross-over front and the neckline is not too plunging, which for me is perfect.

So there we go, I hope you liked my choices. I had one more dress to share which hasn’t arrived yet so I will add it next week. I will try and find some pieces which aren’t velvet too!!

Next Week’s Big Deal

Just a couple of things to share before I go, we have a new bedding brand launching with us called Maison and it features as our Big Deal launching on Sunday. I have been testing it out and for the price it really is a good duvet set. 60% Cotton and 40% Poly and all sizes will be under £30. It’s two tone with a contrast piping detail. The one I have is Dove Grey which has a chalk colour one side, grey on the reverse and then a navy piping in the edges.

It’s a very modern style I think and we also have a Rose Smoke version too which is very pretty and perhaps a softer look to it. Also if you are reading this today (Friday) then make sure to check out our Today’s Special Value from Lola Rose, the infinity scarf is very popular every year and it’s under £17 and a lovely potential Christmas present for someone.

Right that’s it from me for another week, I have to make a start on that ‘to do’ list but guess what? The sun is actually shining right now so I may bin the list and head out for a walk!

Lots of love
