First day at school!

…and just like that I have two little ladies at school. I swear I just brought them home from the hospital. I remember 3 years ago being super excited for Tilda on her very first day and I felt the same for Ivy but I have to admit it felt like my heart had been ripped out this morning as Ivy put on her school cardigan. Proud as punch, standing extra tall and ready for anything. I guess it’s because this is it, with no plans for any more, this is my smallest baby going off on her first real life adventure.

New friends, new experiences and days that we have little influence over. So to all the amazing teachers out there I say firstly, good luck for the year and also watch over our little people, inspire them, fill their heads with facts, figures, skills and creativity but also dreams of the future and help to open their eyes to the big wide world out there. We will in turn promise to do all that we can at home to support what you do with them in the classroom.

Ok I might be crying a little bit now. I’m going to go and get a cup of tea before I carry on!

As you know, if you read my last post, Tilda started last week. She is loving her new school which is such a relief. It’s been a smooth start for her and fingers crossed it stays that way. She’s making new friends and enjoying the new routine, new teachers and new environment. It’s a big deal at their age to have these big changes so it’s natural to have a few wobbles. I’ll keep you posted.

What I’ve been wearing

I’ve got quite a few things to tell you about this week in fashion. I have had a number of messages this week about some of my on-air outfits so I am putting this last week’s outfits in too.

So from left to right:

Outfit 1

The Kim & Co Lux yellow stripe Long Sleeve Top. I really loved this, it’s simple but it’s the fabric that is so gorgeous. It’s incredibly soft. It’s 73% viscose so largely a natural breathable material but it feels like brushed cotton so when you put it on it’s like wearing a hug! I am going to order one myself. Also, Breton stripes go with so much!

The trousers are also Kim & Co. These are also super comfortable, they are high-waisted trousers with deep pockets and no zips or buttons to worry about. Perfect to wear with trainers or something smarter too. They come in Indigo and Deep Taupe.

Outfit 2

Isaac Mizrahi Live – True Denim Plaid Button Up Shirt. This is low in stock in the black and white but we also have a gorgeous Henna option which is orangey reds. It’s very country, which I love. Great for jeans but I dressed it up with a Kim & Co faux leather midi skirt which has been re-stocked!! This skirt is a must-have as it can change a basic look into something a little edgy but also fashion-forward.

Outfit 3Damsel In A Dress animal print blouse.

I’ve been trying to not keep bombarding you with leopard print as it is everywhere but I couldn’t help it with this one! It’s satin so great for dressier days, I think could be great for work too. I love that they’ve taken the classic print but put it on a red vibrant background and with that Victoriana high neck, it’s ticking a lot of trends.

Helene Berman jacket.

My main focus this week though, as the weather is changing is to think about autumn style. So let’s talk coats. I wanted one that I could throw on and smarten up a look but also keep me warm without being in full winter mode! So I went to my go-to for this sort of thing, Helene Berman, I just love every coat of hers. This one is double-breasted so giving a slightly 80s vibe, ain’t nothing wrong with that!

It’s checked so adding pattern and texture which again I am getting braver with. The colours are Burgundy and Navy so it can work with a number of different base colours. It’s somewhere between a blazer and a coat so a great transitional piece to take me into autumn. I went for quite classic styling with it but I would also rock it up with a slogan T- Shirt like they have on the website picture. I will add a big chunky scarf with this as it gets colder. What do you think?

Sleeptember EventCozee Home Kids

As you may have seen, September has been dubbed Sleeptember by The Sleep Council. They are promoting lots of tips for how to improve your night’s sleep. You may have seen some of these being shown on air. Tips like temperature control or not looking at blue light electronics etc before bed. So obviously we are bringing you lots of ways to update your bedroom too to make it a special place to rest. We are also launching a new range for our little ones, Cozee Home Kids!! It will officially be shown on air on the 18th but it’s already available and I was able to bring some home for Tilda to update her bed.

I will now be buying a second set for Ivy too so their bunkbeds have a complete look. We have the blossom duvet set which handily comes in a single option but also a ‘Small Single’ for those kids beds that are in-between cots and proper singles (120cm x 150cm). The pattern is a lovely simple star print on a blossom coloured background. We also have a lovely soft grey too. Tilda is loving it so far.

The thing that really made her and Ivy squeal though was the Pillow Pal they were so excited when I showed it to them, I wish I had filmed their reaction. It’s a big cuddly polar bear that, with the simple undoing of a hook and loop tab, it becomes a big flat squishy pillow! The thing that’s been really heart-warming is that they are sharing it beautifully. They are taking a day and a night each at a time with it. Looks like I may have to buy them the doggy version too so that they have one each. This is the kind of thing which is great to take on long road trips. They can snuggle up with it but also have a little cuddly friend with them too.

What I’ve been Cooking – Asparagus and Prosciutto

As you may know I’ve been trying to be as healthy as possible this month and change some bad habits. I have a tendency to grab the extra-large packets of crisps and chocolates at the service stations on my drives to and from work! That doesn’t mean I am being boring with my food but I am trying to avoid the usual bagels at lunch time and keep it green. So this lunch is a nice easy but tasty dish but also makes a nice starter for a dinner party.

You’ll need:

Fresh Asparagus
Pack of Prosciutto
Garlic Clove, sliced
Feta cheese
Balsamic Glaze
Sea Salt Flakes (from a grinder is fine too!)
Olive Oil

Divide the asparagus into bundles of 2 or 3, take a strip of Prosciutto and wrap it around the middle. Drizzle olive oil in a pan and on a medium heat and add the sliced garlic clove and let the garlic infuse into it. Then add the asparagus and cook until it is softening and the prosciutto is starting to crisp up. You can turn it every few minutes, I used tongs so that they don’t fall apart.

You can cook this to your own taste, I like it al dente so I cook it for about 6-8 minutes, but if you like it softer then leave it for longer. Take it out of the pan Sprinkle with sea salt flakes and a crumble of feta. Drizzle with balsamic glaze. This is a quick lunch and great on its own but it’s also a good side to main course if just adding one bundle, or as said above a good starter.

So that’s all I have for you this week. If you love jewellery do make sure to check in next week as I have some amazing pieces to share with you and a brand new range to QVC!

Until then, have a great week and as always you can keep up with me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Love from Katy xx
