The little things

Oh, I’m so glad to see the back of the Beast from the East, or whatever that awful icy blast was we had last week! It does make heading out for walks extra challenging, doesn’t it? I’ve really enjoyed our walks during lockdown, but have to say, not so much through January – this lake was frozen solid and we lasted all of 10 minutes, if that!

It was part of a conservation area, so we tried to spot a few birds from the hideouts but gave up pretty quickly, despite the warmth of our lovely Centigrade down-filled coats – which are yet to fail us! Mine is at least nine-years-old and I bought Beely’s last year as she kept stealing mine!

Not far from where we live, there was this incredible display of ice that had formed on the side of the road. All the local Facebook pages were calling it our tourist attraction, it caused quite the stir – it was amazing and lasted for a good few days too.

Back inside, we’ve had a bit of a change around. I’ve moved my office back to where it used to be a couple of years ago. When Mum moved in, we turned it into a bedroom for her and when she moved out last year, we redecorated but it hadn’t really worked as a snug for the teens, as we all end up piling into the sitting room together. So, I’ve moved my desk back in and can enjoy my fabulous wallpaper. Beely was delighted with her purchase of an old rotary dial telephone. She squealed when it rang for the first time and we’ve had heaps of fun with it since – ahhh, the little things make all the difference right now, don’t they?

On the work front, we have a very special guest coming in on Friday that we are all a bit giddy about… Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs is a huge fan of Doctor Seaweed Weed and Wonderful supplements and we have a bumper back as a Today’s Special Value, so he’s coming in to tell us why he’s such a fan!

In the meantime, I hope you are staying well and managing to cope during this last stretch!

Much love as always,

Pipa x
