September! Doesn’t time fly

I’ve been sorting out a few DIY issues at home with the help of a great Big Deal from SFIXX. My good pal Tom Shepherd is THE man when it comes to adhesives and I’ve always been impressed with the S Bond no gun hybrid polymer and have used lots of it at home. But one thing I have never got around to trying was repairing those pesky popped nail holes in the plaster. I’ve filled them and painted them so many times with various fillers but they keep popping out and Tom has shown me many times how to fix them so I finally did it! And yes, it works and really worked well.

I have repaired a few gutter leaks that have developed over the summer as the heat moved the joints again and that has worked brilliantly and I sorted out a couple of cracks between the walls and the ceilings that keep opening up. All in all this is the best stuff you can get as it never cracks or shrinks or falls out and with the no gun application it’s so easy to use.

One tip is to leave a bit of the sealant/glue squirted out the end and to keep the sealant from going hard in the tube just pull the dry blob off every couple of weeks and squirt a bit more out to dry again.

It only takes a second and it’s rather satisfying too.

The ultra pen and activator make a top team. This two part system means you can bond pretty much anything with smooth surfaces in about 10 seconds – and it’s a really strong bond!

If your home is anything like mine, you’ll be running around fixing things with evangelistic enthusiasm!

We have an amazing device that is a real first and we have been lucky enough to be able to try it out in the presenters area. It’s an at home massager that’s designed to help you relax and unwind, easing your mind as well as your body. This is perfect for melting away those everyday stresses and will leave you feeling relaxed or invigorated depending on your goal. It’s called the Gtech Myo Touch and there is nothing else like it that I have ever seen.

Our bodies aches and issues are often symptoms of our busy lives – emotions can manifest as physical problems, from tense shoulders to tired lower back muscles. The Gtech Myo Touch is an at home massager that’s designed to help you relax and unwind, easing your mind as well as your body. Enjoy a massage every day and make time for yourself a priority with the Myo Touch.

The Myo Touch has been designed to meet your body’s needs. Use the adjustment handle and tensioning cord to tailor the pressure of your massage. Move the track pegs to focus your treatment on certain areas of your body or go for a full length massage. The roller has been designed to offer a variety of massages, smoothly and rhythmically pressing against your body through the canvas.

I must admit I was sceptical about how vigorous or relaxing a machine could be and was worried that a one size fits all approach might mean it was uncomfortable for me but I was very impressed with how it felt and how it made me feel. If fact I think you can hear, in the video, me telling Chloe about it!

We launch it live at 9pm on Tuesday 1st September so if you have any issues with the old back, shoulders legs or ‘monkey chatter’ that prevents you getting a good nights rest, you might want to join us to find out more.

Getting a good nights rest will be a big theme for us during Sleeptember! We’re bring back loads of Cozee Home bedding to help keep you snug as a bug in a rug now that we are heading into the autumn (although it sometimes feels like we skipped that a bit and are even later in the year). The whole month will have a great selection of duvet sets, sheets, pillows, duvets and beds from Tempur, Silentnight, Sealy and Northern Nights to name but a few.

By the way we have a great new idea at the Q. We love to tell people about the great offers and the wonderful delights at QVC and if you feel the same you could help a friend out and get a wee bonus yourself. It’s called ‘Mention Me’ and it’s really special as it rewards both you and your friend with £10 off a purchase (over the value of £25) when you send a code to a new customer that is then redeemed by that customer who also then gets £10 off their purchase – happy all round! Check out the website and make a pal happy!

We are awash with big deals and special offers and luckily we often record interviews with our specialist guests first thing in the morning and as I am often in for the morning show, I get the chance to hear all about them.

I spoke to Karra from Perricone the other week about a Big Deal and I have to say I think it might have been one of the best offers we have had from Dr Nick. I hope you caught it.

I have also been thrilled to be cooking with a Le Creuset pan set that we have as a TSV on Wednesday  2nd September. I love Le Creuset! They are just what I have been looking for as we have a small frying pan, a large frying pans and a deep sauté pan. We bought a cheap small frying pan to see if we used it much and we did, but we hated the poor quality. The Le Creuset pans are hard anodised aluminium and so they are strong but not too heavy. They are beautifully non stick inside and out but not with PTFE and that’s important to me.

They look great, feel great and as the main cook at home… they cook great too! I just knocked up a bit of pasta with some pan fried tomatoes, some lardons with garlic, pepadews, toasted pine nuts and rocket. Easy to do but the pans made it the best ever. Yum! I’ve tested them out with all the favourites (burgers, eggs, bacon, omelettes and much more) and they are the best.

They heat up quickly and cook so evenly and the non stick is exceptionally good but won’t come off as it’s not a coating but part of the pan. They are going to be on sale at an amazing price so make sure you catch us on Wednesday.

Autumn is upon us and although most of us feel the summer was a bit of a non event, there’s still plenty to look forward to. The house is a bit quiet as my son has set off for a year abroad on a sports and physiology course. It’s good for him and I hope he really enjoys it and although the food bill has been severely reduced… there’s something missing!

Stay well and stay tuned in as we’re always with you at the Q.

  1. You look so relaxed on the Gtex Myo Touch, I’d like of those to relax on after a stint of working in the garden, it would ease all the aches and pains away.
