Down in the dumpster… and sneaky peeks!

Ha ha, with so many boxes on-the-go, I had no choice but to get up in the recycling dumpster and make some room! 🙂 My mum thought it was hilarious! I’m settling in really well into the new home, with help from a couple other family members who have some very interesting names, see below.

Also, see below for news of a super Christmas shopping weekend, a fashion day, and a food fest! And I still had time this week for a trip back to pick up some more bits and pieces from my home in Devon…

Devon visit

I went to Devon to pick up a few more bits. While I was there I socialised… a lot! Making up for lost time. I have missed my friends. Linda Trace, my neighbour, came round for a catch up and a cuppa first…

Then, I went to meet my lovely friend Sheila in Holsworthy, and we put the world to rights over a quiche salad and a decaf in ‘filter through’.

I visited Jennie for a quick yoga session in her very large studio, followed by a wonderful heart-to-heart, and Gerald the spaniel got in on the act.

He made the same noises he used to make when I turned up with Daisy. He did look around for her too, bless him. It was lovely to have a wonderful stretch with Jennie. I have missed it for sure.

But the funniest thing of all was when I was supposed to meet my friend Sheena, who suggested we have dinner as I would be arriving late. “Let me pick up some food for us,” she said, then after a couple of Siri-texts telling her about my arrival time, I walked in the door at her house, and her hubby Alan looked at me strangely and said… “What are you doing here, she’s at yours?!”

Eh?!

I think I must’ve looked like a rabbit in the headlights because it took me a full five minutes to work out what had gone wrong. I duly tootled home and there she was sitting in the car park waiting, along with a bag of food ready to put in the oven! Looking back over the messages,  neither of us had actually said where we would meet, I’d assumed hers and she’d assumed mine! 🙂 Anyway, a good time was had by all. 🙂

Snippets

Three Daves

Funniest thing, my brother David wasn’t there, otherwise it would’ve been four, but three Daves were helping me out. Everybody needs a Dave! Mum’s partner David (on the right), Linda’s partner Dave (up the ladder) and my uncle David in the background all appeared at the same time to help me. Very grateful for their help, but calling for who needed tea was a bit confusing.

New table first lunch

What a lovely sight to see! At my fabulous new table, and a delicious lunch taking me through and giving me sustenance for all those long days full of packing!

Watch

Caitlin came round (okay, I forgot to get a picture!) and we watched the start of ‘Outlander’ again. It’s years since I saw the very first episode, and it’s every bit as good. I have to say, I think the first season is one of the most amazing ones. Do catch it if you can.

I was also enjoying a few more episodes of ‘This is Us’. I finally got to discover what happened to the dad. Full box of tissues, that one, I can tell you!

Podcast

Yes, it’s here, it’s me! It came out on Monday and here it is again in all its glory! Go here to listen to the story of how I got to be at QVC and what happened at my audition, among other things. Will calls it candid and inspiring. See what you think. 🙂

Vlog

Not really a vlog, but it’s a fabulous funny. This was my uncle David (that one) shaking up the can of teak decking oil, well it made me laugh! Go to my blog though and see the rest of the videos for the week including Thursday night’s #ThursdayBantz… Is it from the car park at IKEA in Exeter? Or is it once I got home very late at night!

Book

Tying in with the podcast this week. I’ve mentioned Jackie’s books and Julia’s books, well if you want to find out what really happened in my life, it’s incorporated into the autobiographical “Till the Fat Lady Slims” books. Give it a whirl! The girls on the Facebook group thought the podcast was funny! As I’ve mentioned previously, now I’m back fending for myself again, I’m finding it much easier to say no to things. Although I did have a bit of cake this week down in Devon, all my friend Jayne’s fault. Jayne and Chris – who look after my gardening et cetera – were another couple I went to see in their lovely new home and gosh she bakes well! Good job I’m not there all the time 🙂

  2. Hi Debbie,
All sounds great with your new flat. It looks lovely from what you’ve posted. You’re so very lucky that you got to move before more restrictions and also that you have so many family members to help you. Very lucky you can still meet people indoors too. Keep safe.
As we’ve all heard Trump has covid. I cannot say I’m surprised or have much sympathy as he has not at all taken it seriously or set an example and really is a very disrespectful and rude man all in all.
    Be safe x
