First pics of new flat! Plus sneaky peeks of new deals

Oh my goodness, am I glad that’s over! Thanks to my family so much for the amazing help they all gave us*.

After a big van arrived on the morning I was moving in, about 100 trips up and down my brother’s staircase to retrieve all of my boxes and bags from where they’ve been secreted away, plus several trips to IKEA, I was in!

It’s really weird living next door to my mum already, with only a balcony partition to separate us (although a five minute walk in between the two front entrances). I’ve already seen her more in the last week then I have in the last month I think! Yay. Didn’t stop her joking around though, this made me laugh. 🙂 Here she is, peeping around the communal modern art installation… No, I’m kidding. It’s just the scaffolding, up ’til they finish doing the painting outside. She poses specially, as her partner David looked on. Mad as a hatter, now you know where I get it from!

I’ve decided I definitely want it minimalist this time, after most of my other places got cluttered so quickly. With a bit of a gold theme too, since I got four of the Alison Cork round storage ottomans with gold-coloured trim. Remember on-air, I said I ordered four? Well, they work perfectly with these leaf print armchairs and the stone/grey-coloured two seater leather sofa that reclines (who said Joey from Friends?!), which arrives in October. Until the bed base arrives, I’m perfectly comfortable laying on the Sealy mattress that arrived from QVC, and my new TV is going to be on its way. It makes doing six days overtime in August very worthwhile, and very much appreciated. I will make do with my iPad until the telly arrives in 10 to 14 days. It will probably go in this corner spot. Do you like the plant pot? Recognise it? Of course, I will bring down my little collection of ammonite fossils from Devon too. 🙂

But before that, I need to get the spare room ready for my daughter to arrive next weekend for little Phoebe’s second birthday. It will be wonderful!

I’m very happy here, and here is a little peep at one of the reasons why – look outside at the view from the balcony across the grounds into Banstead Woods. Very happy indeed! Just watch this vlog from my Facebook page, and don’t forget to follow my social media (below) where I regularly post lots of stuff like this and videos you never see in other place. Plus, don’t forget my Thursday night singalong/#thursdayBantz. (See below.)

Snippets

Kerknock-ered!

I have to say, I was cream-crackered though when all was said and done! I posted this funny picture saying “I know everyone usually posts glamorous selfies on here, but this is my face today after loading up the van all morning in the heat!”

Brad brunch

As soon as my son Brad got back from his two-week holiday, they came across to see us. I was delighted because I had not seen Blake for two weeks. She was a little minx, but it was wonderful to catch up with them 🙂

Quiz fail!

After all the build-up, guess what happened during the 8pm Friday night quiz Facebook live? Yes, the Wi-Fi signal had a problem and technical reasons meant we could not broadcast it! So, they’ve asked me back again for the next week’s one, which is tonight (25th), and I promise I only looked at the first couple of questions on the night! Join me around 9pm, I think.

Watch – Des – the Dennis Nilsen story starring David Tennant

This was on ITV (probably still on catch-up), and I loved every minute of it. I must say, David Tennant is the most amazing actor and transformed himself into this cold, calculating killer of young men in the early 80s. A very good timepiece as well period piece, with Daniel Mays playing his usual character of the troubled cop, on fine form as ever. See it if you can – nine out of ten. If you don’t fancy this subject matter, see if you can watch Staged, which David Tennant did in the early days of lockdown and it features Judi Dench! It’s very very funny!

Podcast

This week, Will spoke to Harry Slatkin, and look out for the one I just recorded with Will for the one year anniversary. 🙂 Who are some of the faces you would love to see interviewed, if he has not done them already? (do check the list here first, however, as he has covered a lot of people already!)

Vlog

A sing-along and Thursday banter on from my new home, check it out on my Facebook page! Join us every Thursday if you can.

Book –  Tales from the Folly is out!

One of my favourite authors, Ben Aaronovitch, continues his Rivers of London series, only this time he’s gathered together all the short stories and put them in one place together, with new tales from the supernatural London copper Peter Grant and his posse. I can’t wait to read this one, and I’m just listening to the latest ‘Strike’ book first. If you’ve never heard any before, this is a good way to get into it because lots of different narrators tell the tales and you know how I love a good audiobook! This one is four and a half hours of short stories, easy to dip into – why not give it a try?

Also on Monday, I’m looking forward to bringing you the Fire Light diamonds at 8pm! Should be brilliant! (See what I did there… Lol!)

TuesdayCozee Home is back with a Rosette crushed velvet four-piece duvet set. If you just love their plush man-made fabrics, which are specially created to wick away moisture making you comfortable, cosy, and with no sheet shock, then don’t miss this one.

Wednesday – another of my favourite products, the Lakeland Dry:Soon three tier heated airer returns with a cover and accessories including wash bags. It goes on sale earlier in the week, so look out for it.

And say goodbye to September as we step into October with…

Thursday – the Kim & Co Croco Pleather trousers with pockets in three different lengths! These will fly. 🙂 Gok Wan and Ruth Langsford are both on on this day, as is Julien Macdonald. What a star studded schedule!

Friday – it’s the turn of the Securebrite pop-up LED lanterns with magnetic bases and spotlight. I bought several of these for early Christmas presents and I’ve ended up using them myself, so tune in!

Friday 9pm – Christmas tree time! We launch the Santa’s Best, pre-lit spruce Christmas tree in different sizes. Not sure whether I’m having a real one or not this year. There’s not really any place to store much at my new flat, so I will think about this one seriously. Although one of my favourites however, is the Alison Cork pre-lit tree with berries… Decisions, decisions. 🙂

And going on sale, probably early to midweek, is the Molton Brown TSV for Sunday 3rd – the amazing value 11-piece Ultimate Luxury collection, in choices and at an incredible price, and I mean incredible! I miss out on this one, as I will be off with my daughter, but I will be watching from home and ordering no doubt. 🙂

Next week – more updates from the new flat! And a trip back to Devon to pick up some bits, see some friends and have a little holiday. Hope you have a good week too.

Best wishes,

Debs
