Big marrows! At last a trip to Wales

Had a lovely lot of outdoorsy stuff this week! Considering my daughter Lauren is 5ft 10″, you can imagine how tall this marrow has grown in their poly tunnel down in Wales. I finally made it there after four months of not seeing her and the beautiful little 21-month old toddler, Phoebe. She is attempting whole sentences now, Nannan shoosh on… mumma shoosh on etc.! I had the most lovely time. Stayed in the cabin that they have now finished and put up for bookings. They are practically full right the way through ’till autumn. I’m not surprised because it is so well done, including a little wood burner!

I spent some time helping Lolly to clear leaves, tidy up etc. and just relieving her of baby duties. I got very sweaty and very rained on, but it was great fun and Phoebe loved helping too.

Phoebe and I also had some wonderful fake tea parties with all of her cuddlies. Adorable moments with a wonderful family, so glad to have seen them again and hopefully it won’t be long before the next time!

Good luck Claire

Just wanted to say best wishes and how much we will miss our lovely colleague Claire Sutton, who has taken time out to be with family. She explained all when she came on here to say goodbye last week. If you missed it here it is. Keep in touch, Mrs., we know you will!

Me, Glenn ‘n’ Boki

Just before I went to Wales, I went to Devon with family, plus my brother Glenn and co came with me. Had some great moments, including him and Laura joining in on my 100th and final lockdown sing-song (#Singalongadebbie) last weekend. Go here for the replay and join me on Thursdays from now on live on my Facebook page in the evening. People asked me to continue so I’m making it weekly instead.

Plus, we went for some long walks (in the blooming rain as usual!) with Ziggy the dog, who loved the river, just like lovely little Gracie used to.

And the girls, Izzy and Lara, made themselves a vintage tea party with my tearoom crockery! My place is all done now, cleared up ready for guests for my own lettings and oh my goodness, my room certainly needed it! My biggest task of clearing out was the final lot of clothes. At least there is a local refuge to give some of them to, and I managed to cull them down to an amount I hope will fit in the new wardrobes (the plan to have my own place down in Surrey for weekends when I stay at QVC is still ongoing… ) Busy, busy.

And by the way, if you like finding out about our fashions and outfits we wear, do please have a look on the wonderful Stine (pronounced Steena) Wintlev’s new QVC stylist blog and Instagram!

Podcast

On this week’s podcast, Will speaks to award-winning garden designer Mark Lane!

Funny

Had a little funny moment that I reported on my socials this week, when, half asleep one morning, I decided to order a cheap garden set. Then after I pressed “buy now”, it suddenly dawned on me that it was a little too cheap. £16 for two chairs and a table made of metal… Guess what? They were dolls house furniture! Thank goodness I could cancel it straight away. Note to self… Do not order when half asleep!

Book of the week

It’s out! Julie Cohen’s latest book ‘Spirited’ has finally been released and I can’t wait to listen to the audiobook. It’s a period drama based in the 1850s. Henriette is a celebrated spirit medium, carrying nothing but her secrets with her as she travels the country. When she meets Viola, who has a talent for taking photographs of things seemingly invisible to the eye, a powerful connection is sparked between them, plus another reckless woman living in secrecy… But Victorian society is no place for reckless women as they make a bid for their freedom.

Watch

Having finished Ozark, I turned my attention to a brand new series starting on BBC – Mrs America. Looks really good. Based on events in the 70s as women famously burned their bras and campaigned for equality. Starring Cate Blanchett and some superstars. Looks fabulous!
